The Barber & The Customer

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: “I don’t believe that God exists.”

“Why do you say that?” asked the customer.

“Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”

The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: “You know what? Barbers don’t exist.”

“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber. “I’m right here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!”

“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”

“Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens, is, people just don’t come to me.”

“Exactly!” affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don’t go to Him and don’t look for Him. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering!”

Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Prayers Can’t Be Answered Unless They’re Prayed

Life without purpose is barren indeed.
There can’t be a harvest unless you plant seed.

There can’t be attainment unless there’s a goal,
And man’s but a robot unless there’s a soul.

If we send no ships out, no ships will come in,
And unless there’s a contest, nobody can win.

For games can’t be won unless they are played,
And prayers can’t be answered unless they are prayed.

So whatever is wrong with your life today,
You’ll find a solution if you kneel down and pray.

Not just for pleasure, enjoyment and health,
Not just for honors and prestige and wealth.

But pray for a purpose to make life worth living,
And pray for the joy of unselfish giving.

For prayer is your gladness and blessings from heaven is your reward.
When you make your life’s purpose the choice of the Lord.

So when someone ask you today, “How you doing?”
You should say, “ fine because I prayed.”

I John 2:28-29

1 John 2:28-29, “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.”

That leads us to John’s closing remarks in this chapter. Again, he addresses all as little children as recognition of his love for all who listen to his words. He is not referring now to just the designation of children as babes in Christ, but rather to everyone as an endearment reminiscent of family. Remember, there is a reason John was called the Apostle of love! All his writings and teachings are themed around that Godly principle! He reminds us again of the power of abiding in Christ Jesus, but he also adds this word; if you abide in Christ, then they, the Apostles and disciples who have taught the truth will have confidence and not be ashamed of the Lord’s coming.

The word WE, that John uses is referring to those who are doing all to impart knowledge and wisdom and truth to others. This should stand as a great lesson, but also a warning to all who endeavor to teach or preach the Word of God! If people who listen AND abide in Christ, then those teachers will have confidence of not being ashamed. It would stand to reason also, that those then who DO abide in the truth, will also have confidence and not be ashamed of the Lord’s coming! What a great promise to look forward too! When we do stand before our Lord and Savior, we will not have to feel ashamed, because we have known Him intimately already! What an awesome thought. It will be the difference between standing before Him and hearing Him say depart from Me for I knew you not, or well done thou good and faithful servant! (Matthew 25:14-30). You can see the importance of developing that intimate relationship with our Lord in the here and now!

Think of it; to be able to stand before Him without shame, having the full confidence and knowledge that He can and will put His arms around us with love and compassion for a job well done!! How deeply sad for those that do not take this message to heart, for those that do not see the importance of stepping beyond mere believing into the realm of knowing!!

John closes with the statement that if you “KNOW that He,” meaning Jesus, is righteous then you can tell who abides in Him because they themselves will display righteousness. Again, think about this; we know that in the natural realm, like behavior (for the most part) begets like behavior. A child grows up around an undisciplined parent and in most cases that child grows up to be undisciplined. So it is in the spiritual; God is a righteous God! Those that are abiding in Him and the Son, will beget righteousness. Think again about Jesus parable of the Vine and the branches; “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:4-5.

This is the Apostles closing point; if Christ Jesus is righteous as His Father, God Almighty is righteous and we abide in Him we WILL be righteous. There is no doubt, conveyed in John’s statement!

This brings me to a point I have reiterated again and again in my teaching and it deals with judgment or “judging” others. Many, many well-meaning Christians, if I were to talk with them and tell them this, outside the context of this scripture, they would accuse me of judging another! But look again at the first two verses in Matthew 7:1-2, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” This type of judgment is speaking of two things, condemnation or sentencing and that to a BROTHER (or sister as the case may be). We don’t have the right to condemn or sentence (as to death) one another according to Matthew. A non-believer would look at this Scripture and the one in 1 John and say, see, the scriptures contradict themselves!

But not so in either case! The scriptures are full of examples of how we must be aware of falsehoods, the enemy coming in disguise as a wolf in sheep’s clothing or as an angel of light, false prophets and false teaching and teachers! John writes later on in 1 John that we must test the spirits to see from whence they come! (1 John 4:1). We cannot see a person’s future, a brother or sisters especially, but also strangers for we do not know what plans the Heavenly Father has for the unsaved to be saved. Only the Father can and will judge either unto life eternal or eternal condemnation!

John on the other hand is talking about telling the difference between someone who is not what they seem as opposed to them that walk in the Truth! Don’t just stop at the first few verses in Matthew 7, but look also what Jesus tells us we must do further on in verses 15-27! We have to have that knowledge, to protect ourselves from the enemy’s lies and to also protect those that the Lord has given us charge over. We need to be vigilant, we need to be wary, and we need to be as the watchmen of old! We do that if we know and not just believe Jesus is righteous and by observing the righteousness of others. That is how we know the truth of who they are in Christ! That is a spiritual gift the Lord has promised to all believers and you’ve heard the term before, that’s discernment! It is what we have been discussing in the previous verses of this chapter and as a child of the King, we have this gift. This is why we HAVE to rightly divide the Word of God, we HAVE to take what is written in the context of what and how it was written, only then can you discern when someone is TWISTING the Word to fit their needs and motives! (2 Timothy 2:15).

One last thing; notice how John talks about those that practice righteousness. Do not overlook that word practice. Jesus IS righteous, but we have to practice righteousness. Don’t forget that. We are on a journey or in a race as Paul describes it and that race is not done until He (Christ Jesus) which is perfect comes to get us and take us home! Philippians 3:12-14, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

So, be encouraged, be strengthened, be confident and be at peace, for we have the precious promise of eternal life and the anointing within us that allows us the knowledge of the Truth as long as we continue to ABIDE in Him and He in us!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 3 verse 1.

Salvation – Almost Not Enough

anecdotal stories
1 Kings 13:20-22, Now it came about, as they were sitting down at the table, that the word of the LORD came to the prophet who had brought him back; and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Because you have disobeyed the command of the LORD, and have not observed the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you, but have returned and eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which He said to you, “Eat no bread and drink no water”; your body shall not come to the grave of your fathers.'”

Acts 24:25, And as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present, and when I find time, I will summon you.”

Almost Isn’t Enough

George Barber worked two years as a security officer at a local hotel. At 2:00 A.M. that morning he was going to quit to become supervisor in a security company. At midnight, as he roamed the buildings and grounds of the vast complex, he encountered a suspicious vehicle on the third-floor parking lot. Suddenly, his call for assistance crackled over the security office radio, then . . . gunshots. Officers rushed to help and found him lying on the pavement, several gunshots in his chest and shoulder. Six bullet holes in the door of an abandoned car offered mute testimony that he had gone down only after trading shots with his assailant.

After ten years as a city policeman and two years at the hotel, one hundred twenty minutes before he would have left his job – George Barber was dead! Life shouldn’t happen that way. When you get that close you should be able to finish your term, your job, your plans. But not in this case; and, sad to say, not in many cases.

Many people get close to God’s kingdom, but not in. They are almost, but not quite, convinced. They nearly accept Christ, but never do. However near they come, they fall short. Whatever effort they make to gain entrance, they remain outside grace. What an imponderable disaster for those who nearly or almost become Christians – for close doesn’t count. Near is not in.

Now Is The Time

I John 2:24-27

1 John 2:24-27, “Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us–eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”

Whenever you see the word therefore, remember that it is a continuation of the previous thought. John is again reminding his readers that what he stated earlier about the antichrist, about false teachings and deception AND the TRUTH about Jesus Christ and the Father being One, the very foundation of our Christian faith, is true and if we abide in that truth, then the Father AND the Son abide in us! I have stated it before in past teachings but it bears repeating and that is the fact that the word “abide” in the Scriptures means and implies to “be steadfast as a rock; like a foundation stone, something to build upon as well as being immovable and not easy to break!”

So, if you ABIDE in this truth that you know, it gives you a support to base your life on, it is sturdy and strong, able to withstand any force that may come against it. This is what it means to not just abide IN Christ, but to have Christ also abide in you! The beloved Apostle is stating this fact point blank, there is no secret or big mystery about it and it comes with a huge promise, a reward if you will, ETERNAL LIFE!

Young ones, young believers; cling to what you have heard from the beginning, let it abide in you and you abide in this truth and you will be safeguarded against false teachings and lies from the enemy. Think on this point; the Word that has come to us in the flesh, Jesus Christ, is still alive in the Spirit of what we read! You take it to heart, and not just intellectually, but use it as a life-changing force and you and the Word also become one with one another! That is what abiding offers to those who are alive in Christ. What an awesome concept! What a great and amazing fact! This is the reason the Apostle keeps reminding and reiterating this fact over and over.

When the Word becomes a part of our very life’s blood; we then are able to test everything according to the Word of God; “What does the Scriptures say about this?” If a teaching does not agree with the Word of God, we have the right and the obligation to reject it outright. This is how we are safeguarded against the wiles of the enemy; whether that enemy is the world, the carnal flesh OR the devil and his minions!

Consider this; just as Jesus Christ is the Living Word and He IS the vine, the source of our spiritual knowledge, wisdom and anointing. John 15:3-8, “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

THIS is what abiding means! We become one with Him, grafted into His vine, as His branches and just as He does nothing aside from the Father telling Him, we doing nothing aside from Him telling us! (John 5:19, 14:10-11). Because of this fact, we can have the promise that Jesus made to us from the very beginning; the promise of eternal life with Him, in the presence of His Father. This promise is in direct conflict with the lies the antichrist would try and have us believe, but when the Word Himself is abiding in us, quickening our spirit, there is no doubt in our minds and hearts of the enemy’s lies.

This is why John is able to tell those he loves that we need not worry, because the very anointing is within us. Many people do not realize that when we talk about Jesus, the Christ, we are not talking about Jesus, the man necessarily, but rather Jesus, as the Anointed One. That is the meaning of the title, Christ. When we say Jesus Christ, or Christ Jesus, we are saying that it is Jesus, the Anointed One, or God’s Anointed One. Remember, Jesus came as a man to voluntarily fulfill the mission of His Father so that mankind has Salvation and Redemption available to them. Jesus, the man died, yet the very Spirit of God within Him quickened His mortal body and caused Him to rise from that grave that captured so many before Him! Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” All of this because of abiding in Him and Him abiding in us! This is why John is so adamant about abiding in Christ.

Now, remember that Jesus shared with His disciples that He had to depart this world so that the Paraclete or the Comforter would come, speaking of course of the Holy Spirit as our Advocate and Counselor. It only stands to reason also; for Jesus, the man, in the flesh was limited in His abilities by that very flesh that we ourselves are limited too. His word would reach to all who would listen and hear, but, when He departed to return to Heaven, He sent His Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of Christ, the Anointed One, to dwell within the hearts of all who would accept His truth! His Spirit, not confined to the limitations of the flesh, is able to influence hearts and spirits all over the globe! There are no limitations to where the Holy Spirit can reach! God in His immeasurable wisdom knew this to be the case and it was His plan for mankind all along! How many more reason does mankind need to stand up and Praise Him to the highest Heavens, for the LOVE He has demonstrated toward us!

With that very anointing dwelling within us, we are able to discern the truth from the lies of the world! Discerning is not the only thing either, for with it actually comes the ability to grasp beyond mere believing (not to undermine the importance of belief) to the very knowledge, the KNOWING of the truth. The sign of a mature Christian, one who is intimate with the Lord is not the fact that they believe in Him and His truths, but rather they KNOW Him and His truths! It transcends an intellectual relationship to become an INTIMATE relationship. As with any natural relationship and since we are still carnal, fleshly, yet reborn, it takes time and practice to develop that kind of abiding.

But now knowing that the anointing, that Christ, the Anointed One, dwells within us in the manifestation of His Holy Spirit, we are able to overcome the lies of the enemy and we know the truth. John says that because of this we have no need to be taught. Now don’t misunderstand what this means, what John is saying that because of Christ within us, we know the truth already to be the truth based on how we were taught. This does NOT mean we do not need those within the Church, the Body of Christ to provide instruction in the Word for God Himself made that provision as found in Ephesians 4:11-16, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head–Christ–from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

And don’t forget the Apostle Paul’s admonition to his protégé, Timothy: 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” This certainly applies active teaching and instruction in the Word.

But, when you consider the time in which the Apostle John was writing these letters and the false doctrines that we being taught, not to mention what is being taught today, what John is saying is that as long as you abide in the truth of what has already been taught, you will not have to worry about false teaching that was and even today is, being taught! There are many cults (and not just cults) today, as in John’s day that are always coming forth with some NEW revelation or a new twist on doctrine. The Gnostics of John’s day were always saying they had additional “truths” and what the Apostle is saying is that with what the Living Word teaches us, there is no need for additional truth. With the written Word of God at our disposal and the Living Spirit of God in our hearts, we have ALL we need for instruction concerning God and mankind’s relationship with Him!

No one can or needs to teach one who is abiding in Christ and the truth what IS the truth or a falsehood. The enemy cannot “pull one over on us,” so to speak because of the very Truth that lives within us. We still need to be taught in some areas or else there would be no reason that the Holy Spirit would gift us with teachers, or exhorters or pastors. The Apostle Paul would not have encouraged Timothy to stand upon the things he had been taught as a youngster and the disciples would not have encouraged the older men to teach the younger men and the older women to teach the younger women! This is where you have to study the Word, and rightly divide it. Believe me, I have been in churches that truly believe there is no one teacher, but everybody upon accepting Jesus as Lord, instantly knows all the truths of the Word of God. If this were the case, there would be no stumbling, no religious fads, no twisting of the truth and no being blind-sided by wolves in sheep’s clothing!

What John is saying is this, you will know the truth when you see and hear it and you will know a lie when you see and hear it when you ARE abiding in Christ and His Spirit is abiding in you. No longer do you need a set of rules to tell you how to behave and how to act, for the Word, the rules, the way we are to be to one another and to God as our Father, is written within the anointing that now lives within us!!

We all need to still learn how to apply those truths we know in our relationship, but understand this, any teaching, any rebuking, or reproving as the scripture tells us comes from the Word, must be done with a motive of love. For God IS love as you well know. If He in truth is abiding within us, it is Him, that Character of Love that will manifest itself in all we do! Therefore, when we teach or preach or exhort it will be with love from our innermost being. If we must discipline, rebuke and reprove, it will be with the love that comes from our innermost being, from the ANOINTING that dwells and abides within, and it will not be destructive or harmful, but rather it will come with hope, grace and promise!

One side-note here because of the connotations of words in the language of today and I am sure I am not telling anyone anything new, but it bears reminding; discipline is NOT punishment! Discipline is a derivative of discipling, to show another a different way and in the way the Scriptures use this word, in the correct path to follow. Reprove is just what it sounds like, to RE-PROVE the truth or the veracity of something! Scripturally, to reprove someone is NOT to put them down or make them feel less than what our Heavenly Father thinks of them, but rather it is to prove the truth or worth of something as it has been all along!

God never disciplines or reproves us without showing us that if we follow Him, nothing but good will come of it. That should be the same thing when we teach, preach, discipline or reprove. You never discipline or reprove someone with the intent of tearing them down just to build them back up, that is a humanistic way of teaching, rather it is always with the intent of building them up in the first place! This is what the Beloved Apostle’s teaching shows us in his writing style. He is quick to warn of sin and deception, but he is quicker still to acknowledge being able to rise above them!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 2 verse 28.

Truth Be Told . . .

Repent I say and change your ways, for there will be a judgement day,
let TRUTH be told that hell is real for unrepented souls, believe the ONE who died for you, for it’s your heart HE knows.

Let TRUTH be told, HE rose to life, HE will return one day,
HIS SPIRIT is here right now, with us to help us know the WAY.

Let TRUTH be told HE loves you so, but not the sin you do,
repent but understand there’s grace, and faith to see you through.

Let TRUTH be told HE is the WAY, the WORD made flesh; our light,
we must be, “Born again” and then we’ll love to do what’s right.

For all have sinned and fallen short, but GOD made HIM the WAY,
believe by faith in saving grace, truly your life will change.

Let go of this world you see; it has no love for you,
a tree is known by its own fruit, it will reveal the truth.

There is no condemnation friend, if you reside in Christ,
for you see, you’re not the same, you’ll long to do what’s right.

That old you died upon the cross, the one which JESUS bore,
if you do belong to HIM, you’ll go and sin no more.

You won’t be perfect at the start, for in this flesh we fail,
but I know that if you do, it’s HIS grace that will prevails.

Get up again, confess your sin and pray with all that’s you,
TRUTH be told, HE will forgive, if from your heart its true.

You cannot fool our GOD who knows, believe who you can’t see,
repent and change your mind right then, the TRUTH will set you free.

Thank You Lord

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
23-24, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

Independence Day 2019

On this great day that we in the United States of America set aside to celebrate, let’s consider a couple of things:
With all the left-wing and progressive hate for this country and nation of ours it is important to remember the concept of independence. Politicians can legislate it away, corporations can punish consumers by withdrawing products or raising prices, “churches” can condemn the morality of honoring a nation on which it has based its foundation. Public school teachers at the behest of corrupt local governments can change history and spin a lie to cover up the truth of why people fled to the America’s in the first place and how they established a nation based upon Biblical religious principles, but they can NEVER take away a person’s independence!

They can try and punish you for it, try and ban it, try and make it socially unacceptable, but no man has the power to REMOVE your independence! The Apostle Paul wrote this in 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” And the Beloved Apostle John shared this with posterity, John 14:16-17, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever–the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” The awesome promise from the lips of Jesus Christ, Himself. So you see, as a child of God, as a follower of Christ Jesus, a Christian, we are promised liberty; and what Christ gives so freely, no man can take away!

This Independence Day, as you celebrate, think of what the Lord Jesus Christ imparted to the founding fathers of our nation, and remember that this great independence, this God-given liberty, is also ours individually in Christ Jesus!!

How Does Real Love Respond?

*I know that I will make some of you mad at this; BUT — we are living in perilous times and I believe the last days as foretold by Jesus Christ Himself, and the Apostles He called to follow and teach! If this offends you, I am sorry, BUT again — that is between you and God Almighty, our Heavenly Father for I WILL NOT avoid the truth according to Scripture, no matter how much society and modern mores dictate. I have been called to minister the truth, to serve the Body of Christ and to build up and edify the Church in preparation for the Lord’s imminent return. My wife sent me a link on my Facebook page and it broke my heart, for this is the “church” of today; AND it is becoming more and more prominent and blatant!

The headline reads (you can click on the headline to go to the article:

Newly Consecrated Gay Bishop Declares God Is A Woman

GOD LOVES THIS MAN!! AND as Christians, so should we!

BUT —— how does Godly Agape love for God’s creation demand we respond to this?? First, even though it sounds like a cliché and the sinner will not believe in the sincerity of it, we ARE to love the sinner, but that does NOT mean we love or condone the sin, the lifestyle of Biblical, continued sin, or the false teaching concerning sin!! I ask this question; can we love another WITHOUT having to agree with them? I believe that we can!

So since this church that ordained this Scriptural sinner seems it is right and JUST in the eyes of God, there is only ONE way to address it! We address the sin and the falsehood based upon the ONLY foundation a Christian can rely on, the never-changing and Living Word of God!

First, out of love for the Body of Christ and those searching for the spiritual TRUTH, we need to identify that the churches abiding this practice are engaged in FALSE TEACHING according to Scripture, and those including this person (I cannot call him Bishop no matter what a denomination says, for the Bible tells us what a Bishop is supposed to be) are FALSE PROPHETS and Wolves-in-sheep’s clothing according to Scripture! This IS the spirit of Antichrist and should cause every true believing follower of Christ Jesus to weep with a broken heart! As you can see, this is becoming RAMPANT in our “religious” (as compared to spiritual) congregations and denominations. These false teachers are substituting a false love and compassion, a cushy, watered-down version, for a true Agape love that WILL when applied cause TRUE liberty and can and does set the captive to sin, free!!

Any other application, in the name of justice, compassion, unity, acceptance, etc., etc., is an outright lie from the pits of hell and sadly, today, so many are accepting this lie RATHER than the truth that will set them free!!

I have to resort back to an often used Scripture to again make my point; and every time I do it breaks my heart! So many are listening to modern-day Pharisees and Scribes and I just don’t understand why, EXCEPT the god of this world has blinded SO many people and it seems they desire to be/remain blinded:
Matthew 7:
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
15 ¶ “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?
17 “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
21 ¶ “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25 “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27 “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching,
29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

These are words spoken by Jesus Christ, Himself as recorded by the Apostle Matthew! Do you, who are searching for truth, want to believe those that have thrown away the FOUNDATION of centuries, the foundation that has PROVEN itself to be truth through all that time, for the ear-tickling words of someone who denies the very sin they want and desire to live in rather than the freedom from bondage they are promised??

If you would rather live the lie, then take heart, for in the verses above, it is Jesus Who lets you in on the outcome, not myself! You know, I will give you another Scripture and this one is written by the Apostle Paul, a man who lived during the Roman times (before Rome fell from the inside) and who lived through the acceptance of sodomy and homosexuality in the societies of the Greeks and Romans!
2 Timothy 3:
1 ¶ But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

KNOW THIS, in the LAST DAYS!!! Having a FORM of godliness, church services, religious programs, etc., but denying the power of the God they are SUPPOSED to be honoring and worshipping!! AND, AND, AND from such people turn away! An interesting note is that Paul is writing this to Timothy, his protégé who is following in the ministry (service) to the Gospel of Christ Jesus! Paul is writing this under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to PREACHERS and TEACHERS of the Word!!!! But, it has been recorded for ALL posterity. He is speaking about the LAST DAYS! Have you made the connection yet??!!

As to the aspect of God being a woman;

John 4:
23 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

God is a Spirit!! He is neither man NOR woman, male or female, BUT Christ Jesus, HIS Son addresses Him as FATHER and has throughout the Scriptures. IF, and I say IF, you are a true disciple and follower of Christ Jesus, A CHRISTIAN, than we FOLLOW the leading of our Shepherd, our Master, our Lord and our King!!!
John 14:
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

So how do we love in this instance? Does love, real love, demand that I accept the lie and conform to the ways of the world? Is that the true demonstration of Godly love? I personally don’t know this man and many of you do not; so we cannot act in a loving way, in a personal, close relationship with him. This also goes for the church that he is part of. BUT —- I CAN pray, I can pray for his eternal salvation! I can pray that his blinded eyes would be opened and that he would see AND recognize the truth. I can pray that the Lord intercede concerning his false teaching so that others will not be like the blind following the blind and all fall in a ditch! (Matthew 15:14, Luke 6:39).

When I pray for his soul, sincerely, and for all those who have fallen into this trap, I am spending a portion of my life for someone else, a portion that I can never get back. I am in essence, giving a part of my life, for someone else, for someone whom our Heavenly Father created and thus loves! I can pray that when the Holy Spirit speaks to the heart of this person, the anointing of Christ will pierce through the darkness and touch his spirit! I CANNOT however, pray that God will bless his “ministry” for that would be partaking in the lie and falsehood. I cannot pray that God will bless him in his endeavors for that will also be partaking in the very thing God abhors.

In closing, remember the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Gospel that has been proven over the ages and is the foundation of the TRUE Church, the Body of Christ:
2 John 1:
10 ¶ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

Galatians 1:
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Revelation 22:
20 ¶ He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Sealed

I want to address my Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, specifically. It has come to my attention of some situations on social media that need to be addressed and it truly affects how we view certain health issues.

The thing about social media today is that in one sense, it is a great blessing and in another sense it can be a real curse. As with anything, there are extremes in which we need to be very cautious of as true born-again Christians. You see, social media can be used in this day and age as such a useful tool in winning the lost and encouraging and edifying one another in the Lord. The thing is, you see false prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing and false teaching abounding, and as a child of God, we HAVE to be very discerning. But on the other hand, you can become very close to your brothers and sisters in the Lord in a way that was never possible before and with that comes a transparency, where you see when one or another has problems, many times physical problems in the way of illness.

Now I am NOT going into a doctrinal thesis on whether God can or does still heal today. I for one STILL believe that He performs miracles and that He DOES heal, but I don’t believe it is in every case! There are too many instances in the Bible where there are those who were not healed for whatever reason and none of them had to do with lack of faith.

Be that as it may, what I do want to discuss is something that is extremely prevalent in our modern age. At least we are more aware of it today than in the historical past. I’m speaking of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. They are situations in which the brain is not functioning the way it should and it affects the way a person behaves and even remembers things. Almost every one today has seen the effects of these similar diseases.

But what I want to talk to you about today is how do we as Christians look at the behaviors and attitudes that we see coming from someone who is affected by these illnesses! Some of you reading this are familiar with at least a couple of situations on social media that have affected a brother or sister and their attitudes in posting do not seem clear or rational. Since many do not understand the significance of the damage these diseases produce, I want to give you some spiritual encouragement and hopefully some understanding!

First, remember this; just as your stomach, liver, kidneys, heart, etc., are organs that can develop problems, so it is with your brain. Your brain, though extremely complex is STILL a natural fleshly organ. It is susceptible to harm, disease and even influence of medications and or drugs.
Secondly, science is not able too, and even Biblical teachers who have studied for years cannot tell you where the spirit or the soul of man, resides. Often times as teachers, we will speak as if it is from the heart, but when we become analytical, we may refer to the brain as the source. Let it suffice for this discussion that if your heart stops OR your brain stops, your spirit leaves the body and the natural body is considered dead! But – we DO know that the brain is the seat of our ability to not just think rationally, but to make choices in a clear and coherent way. Many may say, a person is thinking with their heart, but that in reality is just an anecdotal response, for the heart, pumps blood, it does not have the cells or capacity to think.

So I have laid this foundation for this reason; when you are no longer able to make clear and rational thoughts, or you are unable to make precise and determined choices, what is the state of your spirit?

I am not a scientist and so all I can tell you is what I have learned through research based on the experience in my life with my wife’s parents. Even though at the time they suffered their illnesses, we were living a thousand miles away, our family kept us informed of what was going on in the lives of our parents.

There were times when they were very lucid and could remember things clearly and there were times when they forgot the children who were right there with them, caring for them. Sometimes their behavior resorted back to a time in the distant past when they either weren’t Christian yet or were literal babes in the Lord. We can ALL remember when we did things either before accepting Christ and even while we were taking our first steps in the Lord! Some things it would be nice to completely forget!! And speaking of that, remember this Spiritual Principle: Psalm 103:10-12, “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” God has forgotten our sins that we have repented of, it is a curse of humankind that we have trouble forgetting such an important aspect of our lives in Christ Jesus!

So here is something that I want you to consider; when the brain, for whatever reason is not functioning the way that it is meant too, and yet you have surrendered your life, heart and soul to God Almighty, through Christ Jesus by the leading and power of the Holy Spirit and you HAVE been born-again, spiritually renewed, you ARE His! Now one other point I have to make here and I am sorry to my Baptist and Calvinistic brothers and sisters, but I am not here to debate, “once saved, always saved” or “eternal security.” For the sake of this conversation that debate is NOT necessary!

You made a conscious, clear and concise choice to accept Jesus Christ and His sacrifice and you are willing to surrender your life, your will for His will in your life. Romans 6:22-23, “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

So for those who are concerned for their loved ones, I want to break down one of my favorite Scriptures that I use in this specific situation; but before you accuse me of taking this out of context, understand this; everything stated BEFORE this Scripture and those things stated AFTER this Scripture is referring to a clear and concise choice the writer is telling us we have to make. But he makes this fantastic statement: “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” – Ephesians 4:30. What the Apostle Paul is saying in summation is this; make all these choices “and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.” In other words, we are not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God by WILLINGLY making the WRONG choices that he listed previously! You have to have a fully functioning brain to be able to make the wrong OR right choices, but here is the key: “by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Notice the word Paul uses, “were sealed!” That is past tense, meaning when you accepted Christ, you make all these previous choices that are listed so as NOT to grieve the Holy Spirit whom SEALED you! This implies because if you make the WRONG choices you WILL grieve the Holy Spirit and the Bible lists consequences for that action in other places! Again, remember though, you have to be ABLE to make choices to begin with of any kind and if your brain is not working properly, you have the assurance of being sealed! It is the same principle of an innocent dying before they are capable of accepting the gift of Jesus Christ for their lives. You have to be ABLE to accept the gift and understand what it is. If you have ALREADY accepted the gift and can no longer function in the natural because of disease or defect, at least your “seal” is intact!

The Scriptures abound with the importance of being able to make a concise and free choice. Our Heavenly Father because of His unconditional Love, will NEVER force someone to choose Him over the ways of the world. His love does not and cannot allow that. That was the whole point of Jesus CHOOSING to lay down His life on the cross. The Father didn’t make His Son do it, Christ HAD to do it willingly, the ultimate ACT of love for the ultimate GIFT of love!!
When we see a loved one who is suffering from some form of breakdown mentally because of disease or defect, we HAVE to fervently pray for them and continue to love them. Now, there were times when our family members caring for mom or dad had to be firm with them and mom or dad didn’t understand it, but like an innocent child, they still had to be corrected, but it was done out of love and respect for them and for others and not as an act of condemnation. So it is when we see or experience a brother or sister in Christ who is suffering in this way. We STILL have to protect the Body of Christ, but we do it with love and compassion, understanding that they most likely are not able to control their speech or actions and we do it without condemnation, understanding that they are STILL the Lord’s child and that they are STILL our brother or sister!

John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”

Ephesians 1:13-14, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

My hope is that you will continue in fervent prayer, continue to love, not blindly, but with understanding and without condition for those who have served the Lord faithfully, but are suffering in a way in which they have no control. As long as we and they have Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit dwelling within, there is ALWAYS hope and there most definitely is ALWAYS Grace!

Grace – The Value Of

anecdotal stories
Hosea 2:19-20, 23, “And I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In lovingkindness and in compassion, And I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the LORD.”

“And I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, And I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they will say, ‘[Thou art] my God!'”

Galatians 6:1-2, “Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; [each one] looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.”

But Not With Grace

On New Year’s Day, 1983, the Louisiana State Tigers played Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. Jerry Stovall, Louisiana State coach, had been chosen Southeast Conference Coach of the Year in guiding his Tigers to an 8-3-1 record in 1982. In December, 1983, the LSU Board of Supervisors ignored widespread fan and alumni protest and fired him. Just twelve weeks earlier they had given him a bonus – now they gave him the sack. So much for collegiate sports being merely for the thrill of competition! It’s win, tie, or be canned. This win complex subordinates the worth of individuals to the team’s record.

Christians can be grateful their Master treats them differently. He doesn’t order us out of the Kingdom if we have a bad day. God won’t fire us if we have a record of ten wins over temptations but three defeats. He won’t thumb us to the sidelines and out of the church when we run into a spiritual dry spell. And He will never disgustedly call for our resignation if we just can’t get a handle on a temptation, however zealously we try. With grace at work in our lives, Christ’s unique life compensates for our failures. He pays the difference between the little we can afford to pay and what Heaven costs to enter.

Confused By The Confusion?

I think I have made it clear in my writings in the past that I won’t debate Scripture. Usually one or both parties have their mind made up and won’t be open anyway to an alternative idea, whether or not it even lines up with Scripture in context.

The reason I state that is because despite the fact that I see a great movement unfolding before our eyes and spirit, one that is realizing that to love others means to ACT in a kind and loving way no matter who the person is, no matter their beliefs, no matter how contrary their beliefs and ideology might be to the one giving the loving, there seems to be some confusion about God’s loving and our loving others in spite of real sin. The Apostle Paul made it clear that in giving love, from God’s perspective and what should be our perspective, there is no partiality!

Galatians 3:26-28, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Now the Apostle is speaking to the one demonstrating love, for we are to give it unconditionally, impartially, if we truly do belong to Christ! You cannot expect someone who has not be spiritually awakened to understand that type of love, at least to the degree that our Heavenly Father expects as commanded by Christ Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40.

The confusion seems to arise when it comes to how we are supposed to FEEL and to VIEW sin and sinfulness. Let me say this first before going any further; in all of the time I have tried to fulfill my calling as a servant and teacher, I can honestly say that I have never used the concept of Hell or the fact of sin, to try and sway someone to the Lord. I have never believed that way works; but – when it comes to sin, in my role as Pastor in the past I HAVE had to address it and yet, I have always ascribed to the truth as found in Scriptures:

1 Peter 4:8-10, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

Proverbs 10:12, “Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”

Proverbs 17:9, “He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends.”

James 5:19-20, “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

Love, true Agape, Godly love covers, or buries sin, never to be seen again, never to be brought up again. But that is talking about an independent act of sin, not overall sin or a sinful lifestyle, there is a difference, a BIG difference. We can recognize AND even help someone to overcome sin, as shown in James 5, but if we truly love we do not hold it against that person in how they are to be treated or related too. This is the area where most who try to walk in the Spirit fail; when trying to condemn the sin as anathema to God, we are not careful enough or wise enough to separate the PERSON who erred from the actual sin!! Too much of the time we condemn the person along with the sin and we have no right to condemning the person for we ALL have moments of weakness, ALL of us!!

But you can’t cover it, or forgive it, or help someone turn from “the error of his way” if you just ignore it and say in your heart and mind that it doesn’t matter. “GRACE” will take care of it. God’s grace WILL take care of it, but here is the crux of the matter, grace is not a blanket covering that allows us to just ignore our falling into temptation or sin; rather it is a power that allows us to freely rise above our desire to sin if we accept it and recognize it for the power the Lord means for us avail ourselves of. The very character of Grace, Mercy, Hope and even Forgiveness are not even needed if it wasn’t for the fact that man is sinful in nature. Why even preach or teach about these spiritual qualities if it weren’t for the stigma of sin? Human nature, without Christ IS corrupt! When a child is a toddler, you don’t have to teach them to misbehave, you have to teach and discipline them to make wise and good choices. We have seen in our society what has happened when the humanistic teaching that “all are inherently good” has ruled!

The Apostle Paul stated this in Romans 5:20-21, “Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”

Romans 6:12-15, “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!”

What the Apostle is saying in all of this is that now we are not dominated by sin, but that if we DO sin, it is a matter of choice and we have the power through grace to reign it in! Sin does not REIGN over us any more, it is not LORD of us, but when we DO sin, it is because of weakness and we DO have an Advocate with the Father: “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” – 1 John 2:1. This does not make, however, the sin to have no consequence, for as I taught in the article “The Living Word – His Holiness,” back in 2016, our Heavenly Father does not abide sin for it is unholy and against His very nature. When we actively sin, we move from God, not God from us!

This is the very reason that when James was addressing the Brethren, those already walking in Christ, he was very plain to state that “wandering from the truth,” is the same as sinning for if someone turns that person back to the truth and away from sin (the very definition of repentance) that the person who accomplishes this, is demonstrating love in two ways; they are number one, saving a soul from spiritual death, for the soul, even though not the spirit, is the spiritual character of the person, their “personality” as it were; and second, covers or buries a multitude of sin! Remember, if God, our Heavenly Father doesn’t remember our sins after repentance, and as written in Psalm 103:11-12, “For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” What right then do we have to keep bringing up sin that even the Father doesn’t remember any more? I realize man doesn’t easily forget, but in this, by faith, we need to start practicing the real action of forgiveness to ourselves AND to others, forgetting past forgiven transgressions!

We as Christians can and often still do, as James stated, wander from the truth, in sin and according to James we are in danger of spiritual death. If we do not take holiness seriously, then we are not taking sin seriously, for holiness, the very character of God, defines what is and what isn’t sin. It is like the commandments that the religious leaders of Jesus’ time used to hold power and sway over God’s children the Hebrews. Jesus came to show the truth, that the commandments were given to show us our need for a Redeemer Who will atone for our sins because we could never keep the letter of the law ourselves.

So it is still today! Paul in Romans tells us that while our spirit was unregenerate we were slaves to sin. We couldn’t help it, were caught in our enslavement unable to make the choice as to whether we sin or follow after the will of the Father. Jesus came to make us free from the bonds of sin, the slavery that we were enslaved too. It was by His grace, wherewith we have the power to make a choice and that is why Paul states that we are no longer under the “dominion,” the rule, of sin. God’s grace gives us the power to rise above the temptation.

Consider grace like this; you are walking the pinnacles of the mountaintops which come to a very fine edge. You are going about your life as normal and to protect you from falling down into the chasm, you are wearing a parachute, grace. Grace is there IF you fall, it is not meant to be abused by willingly jumping off the edge of the precipice just because you KNOW you have the ‘chute! It is in the motive and how you use God’s freely given grace. It is there because He loves us enough, and He knows our weaknesses and how they can crop up in our “pursuit” of perfection. It is like the safety net. But when you are relying upon the ‘chute to walk carelessly or foolishly, tempting fate, then it becomes abuse!

This is why Paul also demonstrated our ability to choose to sin or not to sin when he stated to “not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” The choice is yours. Do not LET it reign. He is speaking to those who have accepted Christ’s grace and are trying to walk in Christ’s Spirit.

Love is NOT just all the nice, cushy feelings that endear us to one another. True Godly Love, has also been demonstrated by Jesus when dealing with Peter, as well as James and John, the “sons of thunder” as they were nicknamed.

Matthew 16:21-23, “From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Mark 10:37-40, “They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.” But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.” So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.”

How would you feel if you were following after Jesus, had fallen truly in love with Him and clung to every word, only then to have Him say, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me?” Probably the same way Peter had felt. “What did I do? I just don’t want you to come to harm!” But Jesus was addressing the problem with Peter at that moment and He needed to use some “shock and awe” to get Peter’s attention to the real problem.

Peter thought that what he was expressing was noble, but was Peter truly willing to usurp the will of the Lord, just to save the life of His friend, when all along, it is the Father’s will that Christ give His life freely and willingly? Jesus loved Peter eternally rather than just in the moment; He knew Peter would definitely have a hurt ego, Peter was a proud man, BUT – better his ego be bruised now, than he continues in his willfulness rather than surrender to God’s will.

So it is with us today and sin. We have to love BEYOND a person’s sin and care more about them eternally than what they might feel or even think of you in the moment. I AM NOT advocating pointing out sin every time you see it or carrying placards identifying your displeasure with things you consider sin, but we cannot in this day and age be afraid to identify sin for what it is! AND, do not confuse the acts of sin with those who are preaching, teaching or living a falsehood and saying it is okay for they NEED to be identified and called out! I am also NOT advocating looking at your brothers and sisters to see if they are engaged in what you may consider to be sin!

What I am advocating is that we cannot, in the spirit of Godly Love, be afraid to speak of sin as something that WILL and does separate us from God’s glory and having an intimate relationship with Him! We can NOT be afraid to speak the truth about WHY Christ Jesus came to die and shed blood on a wooden cross! We can NOT fool ourselves into believing that if I just ignore the concept of sin, or that we all can and do fall at times, but, for love’s sake I can just act like it isn’t sin!

If you saw someone shackled against their own will for something they had no control over and you had the power to free them, wouldn’t you do all you could to help them get the shackles off? That is what we accomplish when we are not afraid to confront sin head on, free the person bound by it, point them back to the “Truth, the Way, and the Life” and then BURY the shackles!!! You don’t bring back up what shackled them once they are free.

With so much that the Holy Spirit is doing in our hearts and spirits about learning to truly love as the early church did, we must not forget that the reason we do love (in action) in the first place is to point those still bound towards the freedom that is found in the Person of Christ Jesus! We must not forget that holiness is acquired not by our actions or inactions but by the power of grace that is freely given to each to rise above and out of the shackles that did hold us.

We ARE whether we like it or not, drafted to be warriors in a spiritual battle, once we accepted to follow after the Lord’s will and surrendered our own. Warriors are not independent and individual fighters, they fight to overcome an enemy together, watching one another’s backs, helping those weak, for whatever reason, to persevere through the battle, and as warriors we advance at the behest of One Who is leading us. When one is wounded from an enemy’s arrow, we are not to kill our own wounded, but rather, we who are strong (as Apostle Paul states) are to help them up, to provide healing and comfort AND strength!

Love is the greatest offensive AND defensive weapon in our spiritual arsenal, but it is no good to us if we can’t identify the enemy WHEN necessary. We don’t have to look for an enemy behind every corner, for the enemy will make itself known sure enough! (Notice I said it and not them, remember, the fight is against sin, not against people!) The Bible assures us and PROMISES us that what is done or hid in the dark, will be brought to the light.

The world chooses not to recognize the light, by willing to be blind. Our spiritual eyes have been quickened and opened so that we can readily identify the light. Let’s not willingly choose to put blinders on just because it is hard to confront what the light reveals and all the more so when are eyes were opened at such a monumental cost!

Let’s Walk Each Other Home . . .

poeticpraisehdr

We are children of our FATHER, children of the light,
once so lost and broken, alone in darkest night.

Separated from HIM by the sin which weighed us down,
lost without direction and needing to be found.

HE sent HIS WORD down to us, because of love HE died,
the LAMB of GOD would suffer and would be crucified.

They beat HIM then they nailed HIM, to that cross so cold and grey,
the FATHER, though HE loved HIM, had to turn away.

Buried in a borrowed tomb, for three days HIS body lay,
HE rose to life and made us right that resurrection day.

When we believed HE did it to save us from our sin,
we become HIS children and new life would begin.

We became a family, each one called by name,
now no longer in the darkness for we are not the same.

HE who began a good work in us, will complete it till the end,
the Author of salvation who also calls us friends.

We are more than family no longer left to roam,
for now we have direction as we walk each other home.

HE saved us for HE loved us, so much that HE gave,
HE made a way to heaven for HE became, “The ONLY WAY.”

Now sitting with HIS FATHER, on HIS throne for us HE prays,
waiting for that moment, that very special day.

HE will return, HE promised, now we are not alone,
we are family here on earth walking each other home.

I John 2:20-23

1 John 2:20-23, “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

Now recognize this, the Apostle is continuing on with his teaching about those that have been shown ( or manifested) to NOT be a part of Jesus’ true disciples or His teachings. John is telling these young readers, THEREFORE, or but, “you have an anointing from the Holy One.” In essence what the Apostle is doing is answering, comforting AND assuring them that they, in their spiritual youth, are not without spiritual tools and those tools, specifically the anointing, which refers to the Holy Spirit, comes directly from the Holy One, referring to Christ Jesus, Himself!

So, if you are asking the question of how a young believer, spiritually speaking, can truly know the difference between a falsehood or the truth, John is answering that with these statements. He goes on to encourage them with these profound words, “and you know all things.” First, understand that when John finishes his sentence with this statement, he isn’t speaking of this in the sense of complete absolute knowledge of all things! He isn’t stating that all of a sudden a young spiritually reborn and anointed person is going to be omniscient like God Almighty, Himself. No, what John IS reassuring the reader is that when you receive Christ’s gift of redemption and salvation, you are imbued with the Lord Jesus Christ’s Holy Spirit as an anointing and because of the power of that anointing, you know, in your spirit, what is true and what is deception!

Remember what the Apostle Paul wrote in confirmation of this when he wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” You are no longer spiritually blind. The god of this world no longer has control over you, at least control that you don’t give him. Your spiritual eyes have been miraculously healed by the Blood Gift of Christ Jesus and the Grace and Mercy that brings that anointing of the Holy Spirit. You now see, in the spiritual and not the natural only. Now don’t be misled, you have this anointing, but like everything in the spiritual (not to mention the natural) how that anointing is developed is totally up to how much you walk in the Holy Spirit and take direction from Him. That old adage, that “practice makes perfect,” is as true in the spiritual as it is in the natural.

I read a statement years ago and for the life of me can’t remember where I saw it, but it stated something like this: A Christian can see more on his knees than a worldly philosopher can see standing on their tip-toes! It is because of the spiritual reawakening that comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within the life of the new believer. It was meant to not just LEAD us into all spiritual truth, but to allow us to come back into an intimate spiritual relationship with God Almighty AS our Heavenly Father. The love the Father has for us sent His Son to the Cross, not just to save us, but IN THAT salvation, to bring us back, just like the prodigal son, into the intimate relationship that He had with Adam when the Father would meet him in the Garden of Eden. What Adam lost to us because of disobedience, Christ Jesus restored to us by sacrificial obedience!!

The Apostle is writing this not because he feels that as a disciple we do not know the truth. He isn’t warning us about NOT knowing the truth, but rather reiterating the fact that spiritually we DO know the truth because of the Holy Spirit’s anointing! I want to make another important part here about the anointing of the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit’s power AND anointing may not take the place of a person’s conscience, but in a very real way the Holy Spirit overshadows a person’s conscience. See, our conscience IS a gift of God as part of our inherent “moral compass” but it is a part of our natural, carnal being. (Romans 2:15). Our conscience can be seared, can become desensitized by excessive sin and by ignoring its warnings! (1 Timothy 4:2). The Holy Spirit within us has no such restraints! You might be able to ignore Him, but in no way can you silence Him!!

Remember, John started his writing in that last several sentences about the antichrists being among us and our needing to be aware that they are here. So, he is reminding the readers that we know the truth and we know lies, no falsehood or deception is of the truth! I know this seems redundant in the way that he keeps reminding and then going over the same thing, but something I learned when I was in my twenties and going to tech school; some of the best teaching takes you to a certain level but then comes back and reminds you of what you already learned. It tends to make it stick and become more meaningful. This is what the Apostle is doing with the readers of his letter. The modern-day antichrists, just like in the day of John are liars and deceivers. They are willing to manipulate the truth and they try to hide amongst the true disciples in plain sight, spouting religious terms and yet producing no fruit in their lives, at least fruit that is not pleasing!

What the Apostle John is reaffirming is that even the young disciple in the Lord will know a lie for what it is. The one who is a liar is the one who denies that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Anointed from the Father. Now understand this principle; aligning Christ Jesus with what the New Age calls or defines are other spiritual masters is just the same as a lie and a deception from the depths of hell to try and deceive those who are searching for something beyond themselves and yet do not have the foundation of the Good News of the Gospels!! Jesus Christ is NOT on par or equal with Mohammed or with Buddha or any other religious figure, for Christ Jesus IS God and we can ONLY come to the Heavenly Father THROUGH Him and no one else!

Also remember this; John is warning his readers of the doctrines of the Gnostics of his day. They did not believe that Jesus was the Christ, the anointed One, but rather that He was JUST a man whom the Christ, the Messiah descended upon at His baptism from John! Does this sound at all familiar to my readers today? It should, for you find this same teaching in many of the “religious” cults of today, and sadly some who claim to be CHRISTIAN Churches!!

But here is the thing that separates those cults AND those who are JUST religious, from true Christianity; you CANNOT deny the deity of Jesus as Christ without denying our Heavenly Father also! There are many that TRY to worship God alone without even attempting to “go through” Christ Jesus! You can say you “believe” in a “higher being” but you can’t worship the Father without approaching God as Father THROUGH Jesus Christ! John is making it very clear and reiterating again, that to deny Jesus as Christ, you ARE denying God as Father. If you deny the Son, you do NOT have the Father, BUT, if you acknowledge the Son, Christ Jesus, then you also have the Father!

I love to use the following Scripture by Jesus to make this point so clear, and they are written for posterity by John, himself:

John 14:
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
11 “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

Now I want you to read these Scriptures with this perspective; in this instance Jesus is TEACHING His disciples. He is relaying to them spiritual principles, the very thing that the beloved Apostle John is doing with his letters to his followers. There is a difference between preaching and teaching and I want to give you an example of the same thing Jesus was teaching His disciples but instead, He was PREACHING to the Pharisees and unbelievers.

Again, the words of Jesus as recorded by John the Apostle:

John 8:
18 “I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.”
19 Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”

41b Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father–God.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.”

In closing, I want to remind you of this one other principle that John, inspired by the Holy Spirit put forth in remembrance for all generations of disciple who follow:

John 4:
23 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”
26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

Final thought to ponder; God is Spirit, He sent His Son that His Spirit might dwell in Jesus and dwell among men to fulfill His mission of redeeming mankind through salvation by the shedding of His Blood. When we magnify and worship Christ Jesus, we magnify and worship the Father through Him as these Scriptures and many more prove. To deny Christ Jesus IS to deny the Father, BUT to acknowledge Christ Jesus is to KNOW the Father and to ABIDE in Him! What an amazing gift that is not just here today and gone tomorrow, but will last for ALL eternity!!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 2 verse 24.

Counterfeiters – Always Imitating Reality

anecdotal stories
Jeremiah 2:13, “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns, That can hold no water.”

Galatians 4:9, “But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?”

Only the Real Thing

Counterfeiting is epidemic in the business world. Imitations are made of almost anything Americans use – pills, jeans, spark plugs, aircraft parts, pacemakers, car brakes. Bogus transistors were even pawned off on Rockwell International for use in the 1976 Enterprise, a prototype of the space shuttle. Whether through an international consortium or privately, businesses tenaciously pursue counterfeiters, trying to protect their name brands and assure their customers of quality and value. Consumers like to know they are getting full value for their money.

Impostors all have two factors in common: (1) they claim to be as good as the real thing, and (2) they’re cheaper. Such an appeal is difficult to resist for the hard-pressed shopper looking for a bargain. And most people cannot make the distinction – the sham looks as good as the prototype.

Satan is a counterfeiter. When he whispers “I can give you the same thing Jesus offers, and you can practice self-fulfillment instead of self-denial to get it,” people listen. They want both the good life and heaven. Many seekers accept a cheap salvation, thinking it is equal to the real thing, only to find it is worthless! We need to remember: Nothing is real but the real thing.

Prayer For Peace & Calm

Philippians 4:6-7:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
