The Lighthouse In The Storm . . .

When days were calm and times were bright;
We smiled with joy at the sight;
For we could see that things were fair;
The summer breeze and fragrant air.

The family ties were held on tight
And love was there when things were right.
We laughed and sang without a care;
For we were with our loved ones there.

But as time passed our smiles would fade;
When we saw death and times were gray;
We watched our loved ones fade away.

We saw that good times come and go;
They hit us hard how could we know?
That things could change so rapidly;
That tears would bring us to our knees?

The storms of life were dark and gray;
The rain hit hard as lives would sway;
And many went their chosen way.

Some thought that drugs would ease their pain
Or alcohol would numb the brain;
And many would not be sane again.
They lost all hope for better days.

To bad they did not look for light;
To guide them through those storms in life;
To navigate them through the night.

To reassure them storms do fade;
That faith would show them all the Way;
And God would lead them to the day.

When ships are caught in stormy gale;
When frantic wind would rip the sail;
The sailor looked into the dark of night,
For the lighthouse and its guiding light;
A light to save them from the storm;
To a place secure and warm.

In the book of John I read one day;
How God came to earth to guide our way.
How He was born the light of man;
And how we then did not understand.

He came as a child and yet divine;
The very One who made all things;
The Light of Life would we believe?
The One who guides our destiny.

Christ, the Savior of mankind;
Had a plan that He should die;
To save us from our sin inside;
To make us clean and give us life.
Just believe in Him not man;
And He will make you Born Again.

The storms in life will come and go;
I’ve been through many this I know;
That I can trust my Lord in them.

He is the light to every man;
To every woman, girl and boy;
The Only One who can give joy;
For in the morning joy will come;
When we’ve learned to trust Gods only Son.

The lighthouse in the storms do save;
If in life’s darkness, we are lost;
It shows the way we need to go;
Reminds us Jesus paid the cost;
With His own blood to save the lost.

He is the only Way I know.
His love has always calmed my storms;
He’s kept me safe, secure and warm.

For God so loved the world;
That’s us;
In Him we should believe and trust.

Waiting Rather Than Fretting – A.W. Tozer

Aiden Wilson Tozer (April 21, 1897 – May 12, 1963) was an American Christian pastor, author, magazine editor, and spiritual mentor. Self-taught theologian. Fearless preacher. Gifted writer. Man of the inner life. A.W. Tozer, called by many a “modern-day prophet.” Observing contemporary Christian living, Tozer felt the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising with “worldly” concerns. He was a man who was obsessed with the glory and the holiness of God and making it known to others.

Of one thing we may be sure; we can never escape the external stimuli that cause vexation. The world is full of them and though we were to retreat to a cave and live the remainder of our days alone, we still could not lose them. The rough floor of our cave would chafe us, the weather would irritate us, and the very silence would cause us to fret.

Deliverance from a fretting spirit may be by blood and fire, by humility, self-abnegation and a patient carrying of the cross. There will always be “evildoers” and “workers of iniquity,” and for the most part they will appear to succeed while the forces of righteousness will seem to fail. The wicked will always have the money and the talent and the publicity and the numbers, while the righteous will be few and poor and unknown. The prayer-less Christian will surely misread the signs and fret against the circumstances. That is what the Spirit warns us against.

Let us look out calmly upon the world; or better yet, let us look down upon it from above where Christ is seated, and we are seated in Him. Though the wicked spread himself like “a green tree in its native soil” (Psalm 37:35), it is only for a moment. Soon he passes away and is not. But “the salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble” (verse 39). This knowledge should cure the fretting spirit.

Perseverance – God Demands

anecdotal stories
Nehemiah 9:7-8, “You are the LORD God, Who chose Abram And brought him out from Ur of the Chaldees, And gave him the name Abraham. You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give him the land of the Canaanite, Of the Hittite and the Amorite, Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite and the Girgashite – To give it to his descendants. And You have fulfilled Your promise, For You are righteous.”

Ephesians 1:19-20, “And what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.”

To The Extreme

In 218 B.C. Hannibal invaded Italy in the second of three Punic Wars that determined the fate of Rome and Carthage. From her people Rome raised an army, animated it with patriotism, and ordered it to fight. The wealthy devoted their treasure to the cause, and all classes sacrificed everyday amenities for troops in the field. For fifteen years the Romans defended their homeland against the brilliant Carthaginian – and could never drive him out. But their willingness to persevere assured victory, for Hannibal could never conquer them. He finally disembarked his troops from a lack of support at home.

God demands that we obstinately oppose Satan, as those Romans untiringly harried Hannibal. Victory is ours! We may not be able to conquer Satan all at once, but he cannot conquer us at all. No, not at all. We shall conquer him eventually, for God has willed His truth to triumph through us.

Persevere In The Lord

I John 5:12-13

1 John 5:12-13, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

Blessed Assurance! Think of that term aside from the hymn many of you are familiar with. What an exceptional AND powerful concept. Assurance, indeed, but blessed as well. Blessed because it come from God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. What greater assurance could there even be?!

John, in these two verses is concluding the previous thought that we studied in the last lesson. How simply put, how dramatically emphatic. “He who has the Son has life.” Like the old cliché goes, “no ifs, ands or buts!” If you have the Son of God abiding within you, you DO have life! Remember what Jesus Himself stated as recorded by this very same Apostle, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10b. Jesus is talking about His followers, all His disciples including future generations.

The Beloved Apostle is just reminding his readers what Jesus, Himself had stated. From this his conclusion cannot be denied. If you are joined with Christ Jesus, you have life. The Son of God is the source of that life. We can further deduce other scenarios from this; education does not provide us with eternal life; philosophy and the sciences do not provide us with eternal life. By the same token, we can say beyond doubt that neither is good works or religion and thus the institutionalized churches cannot provide us with eternal life. The ONLY conclusion, the ONLY source of eternal life to a believer, is to him who believes on Jesus Christ as the Son of God and His voluntary sacrifice on the Cross and His Resurrection afterwards for the payment of our (all of mankind’s) sins!

Therefore, it can be concluded beyond any doubt that to have life, one MUST have the Son! Then John takes it to its farthest conclusion; “He who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” At least true, eternal life. According to the Apostles preceding statement, you cannot separate eternal life from Christ Jesus, the Son of God. Therefore, if you deny God’s witness, if you deny the Son’s gift, there is no possibility of eternal life without the Son. Since the Son IS life itself, the giver of life and the ONLY way to life itself, then those who refuse the Son are actually reverting back to trusting in the Law and the condemnation that goes along with trying to gain life through the Law!

I have stated it so much lately because of what is happening in the world around us with panic and fear, God’s Character and His Word is from everlasting to everlasting. It does NOT change! If you deny the Son, you deny God’s witness and testimony of the Son and since God is STILL, even in this age and dispensation of grace, a just, righteous and holy God, He HAS to abide by and fulfill His Word!

Thus, the blessed assurance! Those who have the Son have life eternal. It is promised, it is guaranteed by God, Himself. He has given His unchanging and unchangeable Word. You cannot in this world have any greater assurance than that. Now understand this, that goes the other way as well; you have God’s guarantee that if you wish to deny Him and reject His Gift, according to YOUR choice, He will grant that too you and you can spend eternity in total darkness, no light whatsoever for God and His Son are the Light, and in the total absence of His presence and the presence of His love! What a horrifying thought to any who have already chosen to believe!

Then John continues on with the clearest terms possible of why he has chosen to write this very theme and why he wants it understood so emphatically. “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” Don’t doubt, don’t second guess, don’t presume, but KNOW, that if you are a believer in Christ Jesus as the Son of God, because of God’s Word already written, you may KNOW beyond all doubt that you have eternal life. This is such an important aspect of truly being a child of God, the Beloved Apostle does not want anyone to have any doubts whatsoever!

You do not have to live your life hoping that you are saved. John is saying that by God’s Word you can KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt. You do not have to rely on emotions, how you feel one day as compared to another. Your feelings have no bearing whatsoever on the subject of your salvation. The TRUTH of the Word of God is your guarantee, your assurance. If you truly believe God’s Word, His stated Truth, then you CAN know that you have eternal life!

Think about this; the Scriptures, not just John’s writings, but all those things written that point to Jesus Christ as the Son of God, were written so that you will have, beyond all doubt, assurance of your salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ! Thus as a believer Thus as a believer you should be quickened, encouraged, and comforted, and inspired in the very prospect of your salvation. How much more will we value the scriptures written, which have been done so for our assurance, consolation and salvation.

Then as the Apostle usually does, he takes it to it’s farthest conclusion, the final step in the reason why he is writing. Assurance and knowledge of the truth is the premiere reasoning and the undeniable FACT that salvation is ours. Once you realize this is not a theory but a hard fact, then he takes it to the next step in the actual living within that fact, “and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

With the affirmation and confirmation of their faith in believing, John is reminding them that they can keep on believing for nothing can rob them of that belief once they are truly “in the know.” As believers in the Son of God, in Christ Jesus AS Savior, we must persevere and continue to strive forward in the faith. To pull back from believing, to start to allow doubts to rule our lives would be the same as doing nothing. The enemy would love nothing more than to cause you to linger in doubts to the point of doing absolutely nothing as far as striving forward in faith. This is why encouraging one another is such an important part of a mature believer’s walk in the Spirit. This is why the Beloved Apostle is so adamant on returning to the same thought over and over again.

Believing is the start of our faith. Walking in that faith and belief leads to practice and experience and experience leads to actual knowing. But it takes others like the Apostle John to continue to share the Word of God to encourage and inspire those young in the Lord to persevere and press forward. This is why the Apostle Paul is constantly encouraging in his letters to strive and press forward in the Lord and not to look back on past mistakes. They ARE in the past and all they can do is either make you stronger by learning from them, or dwelling on them and causing you to be dragged back into doubts and fear.

When you can KNOW that God’s Word is meant to not just acknowledge to you the truth of God’s love and His desire that you believe in the Son of God, but is also meant to assure you beyond all doubt, you definitely grow stronger and more mature in the Lord.

Blessed Assurance! Again, think about what an awesome gift that is to a believer! It truly IS a treasure and one that has its foundations in God, Himself! When you begin to truly know the truth of His Word(s), there is nothing that can shake you from that foundation!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 5 verse 14.

Fruit For Thought

Yeah, I know, that title! I have a category on my website that most of you who follow me is called “Food For Thought” where I post usually shorter articles, not always mine, that cause a person reading them to think about something. I thought in this article I would play with that a bit! You have to forgive me, sometimes my mind just goes where it wants.

But I do want to talk about fruit. And, I want you to think about it in maybe just a little bit of a new way. As a Christian, a follower of the example of Christ Jesus, we talk a lot about the Fruit of the Spirit and it’s a common theme in preaching and teaching. The Apostle Paul wrote this to the Galatians:

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” – Galatians 5:16-18, 22-25.

Almost everyone is familiar with verses 22 and 23 describing what the Fruit of the Spirit is. As Christians, at one point in our spiritual journey we have heard this Scripture. But have you given any thought to what fruit is? Most take fruit for granted in the natural. You either like fruit of some kind or, believe it or not, there are those who do not.

Let’s consider fruit in the natural for a moment. Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia says this:

Fruits are the means by which the seed-bearing structure in flowering plants disseminate seeds. Edible fruits, in particular, have propagated with the movements of humans and animals in a symbiotic relationship as a means for seed dispersal and nutrition; in fact, humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food. Accordingly, fruits account for a substantial fraction of the world’s agricultural output, and some (such as the apple and the pomegranate) have acquired extensive cultural and symbolic meanings.

In common language usage, “fruit” normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of a plant that are sweet or sour, and edible in the raw state, such as apples, bananas, grapes, lemons, oranges, and strawberries. On the other hand, in botanical usage, “fruit” includes many structures that are not commonly called “fruits,” such as bean pods, corn kernels, tomatoes, and wheat grains.[1]

Now of course, here we are describing what many in the world associate with food. But did you read the above part about the dissemination of seeds; in other words, the spreading of the seeds? As the online encyclopedia states, the seeds are propagated, spread around due to humans and animals. Mankind actually goes to great lengths to cultivate different types of fruit for human consumption.

We all know what kind of goodness is found in perfectly harvested just-ripe fruit whether it be apples, citrus, berries or something like grapes. They can be the most satisfying thing that you can eat!

But, I want you to now think of something else. What do you do with fruit that is bad? How many have bitten into an apple only to find a large, brown bruise or even burrow. Talk about losing the desire for the fruit at that particular moment. Or what about citrus when it has lost its sweetness or sourness and all you taste is an off-putting acrid “wrongness!” Nope, fruit that has gone from ripe to rotten isn’t good for anything but the trash and that’s usually where it goes.

Well, I want to give you another take on fruit in the spiritual sense that we RARELY hear taught on except in passing. Jesus, Himself was the one that used the analogy of fruit as a parable to the disciples that followed Him over two thousand years ago and those who would follow Him in this day and age. Now I’m going to give you the shortened version that the Apostle Luke wrote before I ask you to consider the parallel version that the Apostle Matthew wrote:

“For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” – Luke 6:43-45.

Many of you who follow my teaching will notice verse 45. I use it a lot and not just in teaching. It is a benchmark as it were into a person’s heart. As an Evangelist, Pastor or Teacher you have to be discerning (which I will presently get into) to protect the flock that Christ Jesus has charged you to care for. It is not just a matter of feeding the sheep, you have to be aware of dangers that are out to destroy them also, and many of my “fellow sheep” who operate in other gifts do not always recognize or realize this aspect of caring and loving one another.

We have to be able to identify “BAD” fruit and those who are spreading the seed! The thing most people do not consider often, is that the kind of fruit you display upon your “branches” also tells others what “vine” you come from. And if the fruit is not acceptable, the seeds are not what others need either. The WHOLE fruit should be trashed, as it were.

I know, I know; some of you are already going to THAT place. But, Brother Roland that sounds an awful lot like judging someone else and we CAN’T do that! Again, we can’t judge in the sense of condemning or sentencing someone to “eternal darkness.” Only Christ Jesus through the authority of the Father will have that right. BUT, and I know I say it a lot, we DO have the right AND the authority from Christ Jesus to tell whether someone is teaching false and leading His sheep astray! We CAN discern whether they are producing AND spreading bad fruit as opposed to the Fruit of the Spirit!

Think about it in the natural. Would you as a loving parent give your kids a bowl of strawberries that were starting to rot and show signs of major bruising or that were worm-ridden. I don’t know of any parent that would. That fruit would be thrown in the trash before the kids even saw it!

Well, so it is with certain ministries or servants called to do certain things. If we have been appointed to “feed” the flock for instance. We AREN’T going to feed them rotten food and we certainly aren’t going to let someone else rotten food if we see that those someone’s are irresponsible AND bearers of bad “food” or fruit! For the Church, the Body of Christ to grow strong in the Lord, the individual members have to get away from this earthly “bad” fruit called political correctness and start being more willing to feed the truth to the sheep!

Here, now is what Jesus said as recorded in Matthew and you will see the same principle, just expounded on more extensively:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” – Matthew 7:15-20.

Right from the start, the Lord Jesus is identifying the reason for this awareness and discernment; false prophets. What is a modern-day prophet? It’s not someone who predicts the future despite how many believe. A “prophet” is a messenger, supposedly of God’s Word(s). I say supposedly, because just like in the Old Testament, many God-ordained prophets had to speak out to the people against the false prophets they were listening too and as a result of the people listening, they turned and rebelled against God. Thus judgement and discipline and even punishment ensued.

False prophets are NOT a new thing. People listening to false prophets are not a new thing. But, they can be identified by the fruit and the seeds from that fruit that they are spreading around. False prophets don’t just spread the bad seeds by their deeds, no many times the motives behind their deeds are hidden, but what is buried deep within your heart CANNOT be hidden. This is one of the reasons why God Himself, looks not so much on a man’s deeds, though they can be important, but God looks upon a man’s heart. The motives, the reasons FOR a person’s deeds are hidden in the heart. The thing is, what a man truly and fervently loves also resides there and man cannot keep from speaking those things that are most desirable to him.

If a man loves sports, the majority of his conversation will either be about sports or will always come back to sports. If a person loves the gathering of wealth, either their conversations will be based mostly on that OR they will bring the conversation back to that topic. Why? Because what a person loves, what they know intimately is what they enjoy and desire to speak of. Human nature in that regard does not change and anyone who has been attempting to SERVE God and His children for any amount of time will know that to be true.

Again, here is what Jesus Christ stated about this very fact, very emphatically I might add:

“Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” – Matthew 12:32-35.

Again, do you see what Jesus is stating? “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” You can apply that to ANY form of modern-day communication. I like to joke that nowadays, “For out of the abundance of the heart, the fingers strike the keys!” Or, the author writes!

It is from the abundance of the heart, or the spirit within, that the seeds from the inner fruit will be dispensed to others. If bitterness, anger and discord, fear, worry, doubt and anxiety, are being spread around by the tongue, then you can know what is in the heart. It is not judging, it is being evidently and demonstrably expressed and the Bible is clear about it.

If however, you are getting a steady stream of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and the like from a person’s heart, you cannot mistake the stamp or the imprint of the Holy Spirit upon that person’s life.

Yes, it is true that you cannot base everything on one conversation. But you can base your concerns upon a pattern of different conversations. The TRUTH will ALWAYS win out and especially if you are a humble servant of the Lord and your Brothers and Sisters. In your humility is not weakness, but rather your strength comes from you overriding concern and compassion for others. You care about them not JUST in the here and now, but in the eternal scheme of things. This can ONLY come from walking in the Spirit and the anointing of the Holy Spirit over time. That time is dependent upon the Lord’s equipping His servant and their yielding to His yoke.

I truly love my Brothers and Sisters in Christ and that is BECAUSE of the Holy Spirit. I feel exceptionally blessed in that even though many I have not met face to face, I know them in the spirit because of the blessing of modern technology. As Christians, we have been blessed to be born for a time like this! The TRUE Church, the Body of Christ can truly find unity in the Spirit because of our ability to commune over distances. I feel akin to them because of their written comments and the strength of joy, love and faith that comes from the things they write.

So in closing, and especially in this time we are in awaiting the Lord’s direction and His glory to be shown and demonstrated, when we do commune, step out in faith and encourage one another in the Lord. If you are anxious, try not to feed that fear, doubt and anxiety into another and especially those you love, for those seeds can and DO take root and it is harder to dig them out, once they have found fertile ground. Determine within yourself and ask the Lord through His Holy Spirit to help you be only a sower of good seeds from good fruit!

Prayer For The Nations

March 29, 2020 has been designated a day of prayer and fasting for the Nations and for the situation concerning the Coronavirus.

Heavenly Father;

Lord we come to You today in meekness and humility. We acknowledge, as Your children, Your Sovereignty and we sincerely Magnify and Exalt You above all things. We recognize AND know that You alone are worthy of our Praise and our Worship. We are in agreement with our Brothers and Sisters throughout the world in lifting our voices and our hearts to You, in one accord.

Lord, we have seen Your Hand on the world in the past and we also know that many in the world who should know better have rejected You and Your principles, Your Holiness and Purity and Your desire for uprightness in a person’s heart is well known. We may not know whether this situation with the Coronavirus that the world is facing is directly from You, but we DO know that You in Your power and authority can use ANY situation to cause people to turn their faces and thoughts to You, even situations that mankind themselves initiated!

Your children have been acknowledging that Your judgement upon the unrighteous and blatantly sinful is long overdue, yet Lord we also recognize and acknowledge Your longsuffering and compassion on Your creation so that man has a chance to repent and turn to You. We DO pray that Your Holy Spirit would move upon the heart of man so that their blinded eyes might be opened to the TRUTH of Your Presence and Your Hand. At least allow them to see the truth so that they are without excuse when the day of judgement does come.

Father in Heaven, we lift up to You, here in the U.S. our President, Donald Trump, the man that You in Your plans and wisdom has appointed for this time we are living in. We ask that You protect Him, circle him with Your Guardian Angels that he and his family might be protected while his enemies want to see him destroyed. Lord, we’ve seen Your protection to Your appointed leaders of the past and we pray that You in Your Authority do the same for him and his whole family.

We pray also for Your servant Vice-President Mike Pence and his family and Father, please supply him and his the same protections as he tries to be a support to the President and a service to You and Your children. Bless him as his soul continues to seek You. Bless him for his inspiration upon the President.

Father, we also pray for the other righteous leaders You have placed into positions of authority and ask that You protect them as well. We are aware that not everyone around the President and Vice-President have the best motives, but we do trust whole-heartedly in Your ability to protect the leaders You have placed and appointed. We thank You so much for Your wisdom that is beyond our understanding and the plans that You have for the benefit in the long-run for Your children.

Dearest Lord, that includes whatever plans You have for the situation with the Coronavirus. More than anything Lord, we desire to see Your perfect plans and will unfold and that as they do unfold, Your Glory WILL be demonstrated throughout the world! Lord, we recognize we NEED revival and not a showy demonstration meant to satisfy people’s emotions, but something that truly changes people’s spirits from deep within. We need a reawakening in this world, for we know that according to Your Word, it is Your will for revival right before You send Your Son back to us!

Revival Lord, is probably the greatest need this world has right now! Things are moving along as You have revealed to us in Your written Word and the signs of the seasons are obvious to see to those who truly are Yours! Send us revival, oh Lord and prepare our hearts for the duties You have appointed and called us to fulfill.

Father, there is a spirit of fear and panic that has even been tempting some of Your children and we who are a bit more mature know that it is because of where they are in their faith. We truly pray for our young Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, realizing that natural age has nothing to do with their spiritual maturity. We pray that You Holy Spirit would touch them mightily in situations where they start to second-guess the circumstances and are tempted to fear. Let them know, in their hearts and spirit that You will NEVER leave them nor forsake them just as Your Word emphatically states more than once. Allow them that supernatural strength that is promised in Your joy for them being Your children!

Dearest Father, forgive us for falling into doubt and fear. We KNOW better that it does not come from You. We also know that we are not pleasing You when we are tempted and fall into doubt, panic and fear. Heal us of those doubts Lord and as Your Word states, “Create in me a clean heart, oh God and renew a right spirit within me!”

Help us who have been serving You longer to be patient with our younger Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Forgive us for our impatience and Lord anoint us to be an encouragement and inspiration to them and a strength in times of doubt.

Dear Lord, more than anything we want Your most PERFECT WILL to be accomplished in our lives and in the world! We WANT and desire that Your Glory and Your Glory alone be manifested among the nations. Our pray and desire that those who choose to reject You and Your precepts will KNOW, beyond a reasonable doubt that You and You alone are sovereign and if they choose to remain hard-hearted, stubborn and rebellious, then Your never-changing Word will apply to them as well. Lord, do NOT let Your Name and Character continue to be slandered.

Father, we know that one of the most precious treasures that we have from You is the ability to choose our destiny in You from a free will. We know that You desire none to perish, but we also know with all the LOVE that You have manifested and demonstrated in the world that there will always be those who choose to exercise that free will to reject You. Help us to pray for them, and thus demonstrate Your love in our prayers, but help us also to comprehend how something like that can be.

Father, again we acknowledge Your power, authority and above all else Your Sovereignty in Your Creation! We pray again, Your will be done in all things. Help Your children to understand, help those who are tempted to doubt and Father in Heaven, help us by Your Holy Spirit to ever please You by continuing to walk in faith, not relying on our emotions or what we see, but rather believing everything You have left us in Your written Word.

Lord, we humbly ask that You hear us and answer these prayers prayed in the authority and the Name of Your only begotten Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen and AMEN!

Rise Up, O God, and Judge The Earth

I absolutely LOVE the Word of God! Those of you who know me, either personally or online know this to be true. Some of you online have known me for twenty plus years! I also love to encourage people, God’s children, my Brothers and Sisters. I love to teach and instruct and especially when it is inspiring. I have been blessed immensely by the Holy Spirit through the years.

But –

Part of my “service to the Word” is to also correct and warn and I will be honest, I am not one of those who takes particular delight in that aspect of service (ministry) to my Brothers and Sisters or to those in the world. There is a very, very heavy responsibility AND accountability for anyone who answers this particular calling from the Lord, for it is to Him we will ultimately be judged by for the very words we deliver in His name to others!

It just seems lately I have had to take part in that role a little bit more than I ever have in the past. I truly believe it is because Christ Jesus, our Redeemer is standing on the threshold of His imminent return to gather His Body, the True Church.

Lately I have been spending a lot of time in Psalms, along with some other books of the Bible, but Psalms is a literal treasure trove of Scriptural Principles about our relationship with the Father and with one another. Today, I read Psalm 82 and I couldn’t go on. You can ask my wife, it hit me like an arrow hitting a bullseye in a big circle target! As soon as I read it, and it’s not long, I had to reread it to my wife. It strikes right on dead-center with what is going on in the world today.

First, I cannot tell you if this Coronavirus flu is judgement from the Lord. I don’t know for sure. BUT – I can tell you that the panic AND fear displayed throughout the world by it IS! You may be asking how can I say that so emphatically. I have to tell you it is because we are LONG overdue for judgement for the sins we have condoned and the fact that we have rejected the very ideals that allowed our many nations to prosper and be blessed and with so many living under the “banner” of being “Christian,” it is long past time for God to say, “fine, then as My children, you shall be made to answer for your folly!”

I believe, and especially in the Nation of the U.S. that for a little while now, especially with Trump as the leader appointed by God, Himself for this time in America, that the Lord has decided to stand back and let those in leadership who have rejected Him deal with what is called in our Nation “Trump Derangement Syndrome” because it seems to be striking a lot of people and I believe the Lord has allowed this to confound their minds because of their abject refusal to accept God’s standards and to continue to blatantly lead this Nation into sinful behavior. Even psychologists today cannot fully explain what is happening and now, since this flu virus has hit, it is as though our leaders, not just here, but all over the world have walked off the tallest cliff into the deepest abyss! There is world-wide fear and panic and even though this flu is severe, it is not as severe as some in the past, yet all over the world, leaders are bringing everything to a standstill and actually causing more catastrophic results than the flu virus could!

This is MAN’S assumed wisdom at work and those who are abiding in Christ Jesus can see it unfolding before our very eyes!! Which leads me to ANOTHER aspect of this situation. Many, so-called “Christian” churches all over the world and particularly here in the U.S. have chosen in their vast wisdom to justify rampant and blatant sinfulness and to state with their own justification why God “will” accept it; thus misleading thousands if not millions!

God does not change! I do not know how many times, Godly and anointed ministers of the Word have to repeat that fact. God’s Word does not change either, for it has stood AND withstood the test of time for millennia and it is STILL relevant (much more so) today! Yet even though this flu virus is not affecting as many and in such a way as the media would like you to believe, the panic and fear sweeping the world most assuredly has!

So why do I think that it is the panic and fear that is the judgement? Because as every born-again Christian knows, almost by heart, God is NOT the source of panic and fear, but rather just the opposite. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7. All over the world, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ are repeating this awesome verse to comfort and assure one another.

So then, you may ask, why is everyone panicking and so fearful? Because sin and the tool of the enemy “guilt” will do that in a person who has not given their lives over to Christ Jesus and been reborn and spiritually renewed! Plain and simple. I have said it for so long now, God, our Heavenly Father takes care of His own. Those who are not His, suffer the consequences of sin and what it does to the natural man even without the hand of God judging! See guilt is a tool of the enemy, the devil. The Lord has given His children the Holy Spirit to abide within and the Holy Spirit doesn’t have to use guilt in a “new creation.” Instead, He uses counsel and conviction, in other words, CONVINCING, so the spiritually reborn will walk uprightly! That is what true discipline, discipleship is all about. NOT putting one down for doing wrong, but convincing them to do what is right! This is why God’s TRUE children have no reason to fear. We don’t fear death or punishment for God IS love. Only rejecting God and thus true AGAPE (love) leads to fear and panic for a person who does not understand love if fearful of punishment. (1 John 4:17-18).

So now I want to share with you what I have read and just so you know, I have been reading the Psalms in the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, the NLT, just for the ease of reading. You can read Psalm 82 in whatever version you are comfortable with, but I want you to see the parallel, (especially those of you in the U.S.) to what Asaph, the psalmist wrote. You decide whether it can apply to today as I have already come to a very solid and apparent conclusion!

Before the verses, just one question to many of you. Can you see in this and other Scriptures why I believe the Holy Spirit is STILL inspiring and working in the hearts of TRUE believers today? There is too much evidence to support His inspiration and illumination has never ceased!

Psalm 82

A psalm of Asaph.

1 God presides over heaven’s court;
      he pronounces judgment on the judges:
2 “How long will you judges hand down unjust decisions?
      How long will you shower special favors on the wicked? Interlude

3 “Give fair judgment to the poor and the orphan;
      uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.
4 Rescue the poor and helpless;
      deliver them from the grasp of evil people.
5 But these oppressors know nothing;
      they are so ignorant!
And because they are in darkness,
      the whole world is shaken to the core.
6 I say, ‘You are gods
      and children of the Most High.
7 But in death you are mere men.
      You will fall as any prince,
      for all must die.’”

8 Rise up, O God, and judge the earth,
      for all the nations belong to you.

Today it seems the whole world IS in darkness for it has most certainly been shaken to the core! Remember verse 8, THE NATIONS BELONG TO YOU (GOD ALMIGHTY).

Something to definitely think about!

We Trust In The Name of The Lord Our God

Here’s a great prayer I ran across a couple of weeks ago and was saving for a day like today. Brother Charlie over at “Learning From God’s Word” has a lot of prayers based on Scriptures, plus a lot of articles, devotional and instructional. He also has many more than one website in which to access a vast store of great reading. Be blessed as you pray and meditate on this word!

“We trust in the Name of the Lord our God…Through the unfailing love of the Most High’ we ‘shall not be moved” (Psalms 20:7; 21:7). Lord, we thank You that You are a solid rock for our faith. You are the only solid rock for our faith. Without You, Lord, the foundations are shaking. We’re about to collapse. You pick us up. we’re broken in pieces. You put us together again. Our life is going nowhere. You give us a new sense of direction. Without this input from You, our lives are empty. Everything we do is futile. When You are there with us, everything changes. It’s Your love that makes the difference. It’s Your love

When our future seems so uncertain, help us, Lord, to put our trust in You. Help us to remember Your Son, Jesus. Help us to remember that He is our Saviour. When we fear the…

I John 5:9-11

1 John 5:9-11, “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

The Apostle John has been talking about the witnesses or the testimony that verifies and acknowledges Jesus Christ, not just as the Son of God, but the true Anointed of God, to be Savior and Redeemer.

John continues on with this line of thought concerning the true witness concerning Christ Jesus. He uses a hard to argue with statement in that, “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater.” This is an easy statement for anyone to relate too. After all, this is a part of our lives, not just in the social arenas but also in the affairs of dealings with various businesses. We trust the words of our friends and those we have dealings with and we HOPE that they are honest and above board, yet we know that very often there are those who wish to deceive for monetary gain or for various other reasons. Sometimes it is just a matter of mistaken testimony and not always just outright deceit. Nonetheless, the Apostle is telling us that in comparison to our everyday dealings with our fellow man, the greater testimony belongs to God Almighty.

God does not and cannot lie. His testimony and His witness to anything is beyond reproach, so if we are willing to accept the testimony of mankind in our everyday dealings, all the more reason we SHOULD accept God’s witness concerning His Son! In other words, even common sense would tell you that it would be unreasonable NOT to believe God, for His testimony and witness are absolutely credible.

Remember, John tells us that the witness is from and of God and even if you discount the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit from the previous verse 7 as we have discussed in our previous study, here we can see that God Almighty, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are all encompassed as witnesses in God Himself! So there can be and there should be no doubt whatsoever concerning Christ Jesus as the Son of God! Again, within God Himself, these three Characters of the Triune God are three that testify to the truth of Christ Jesus as the Son!

Now continuing on with John’s theme of witness and testimony, he goes on to write about the evidence of even ANOTHER witness. When a person accepts Christ Jesus’ gift of Salvation through Him and the sacrifice He made, God, our Heavenly Father seals the truth WITHIN that person by the very witness of the abiding Holy Spirit. So, those who believe God’s witness and testimony have the TRUTH of that witness within themselves!

So now, a man who accepts Jesus Christ within himself has not just the outward testimony as described before, but now has an inner testimony to the truth as well! Remember the words of the Apostle Paul, “Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:16-17.

Most everyone remembers verse 17 of Paul’s statement but look at how verse 16 confirms what the Apostle John is also saying; “now, we regard no one according to the flesh, even Christ Jesus whom we’ve known according to the flesh.” So the testimony, the witness of the three that agree, though obvious to all according to the flesh, their witness is infallible, yet now because we are a NEW creation, a spiritual creation, now we recognize the witness of the Holy Spirit within!

In our lives, the ways we have thought of things, the way we have analyzed different things was all done according to the natural and according to the flesh, the carnal. Now, however because with Christ Jesus, the Son abiding in us by His Holy Spirit, we have a NEW dimension as it were, to our thinking and to the way we see and perceive things. NOW we look at things not just in a temporary natural way, but now we see things and think on things with an eternal, an infinite scheme of things. Our minds as well as our spirits are renewed AND reborn! All because of Christ Jesus to those who believe!

This is a new addition for those who believe in the witness of those things that lead them to Christ. Now those witnesses actually have the “stamp of approval” of the very Spirit of Christ abiding within. But, and I’m sorry there always has to be a but, if we accept the testimony and allow it to become a living part of our lives, abiding within us as a living witness, then those who choose to NOT believe in the witness and testimony of God, aren’t just rejecting Him and His Word, which we know to be infallible and without reproach, but they are actually accusing Him of being a liar, a deceiver! John is making the point, rather emphatically that it is not just a matter of rejecting God Himself, but a person who rejects God’s Word and His witness concerning His Son is accusing Him of outright dishonesty.

Those who reject the Son of God, as the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer, sent to pay for OUR debts with His own blood and life are saying that God’s witness, His testimony does not matter! In all of my years of trying to serve the Lord and with all the missteps and stumbles I have taken, some of which were temporarily rebellious, even during those times, I NEVER once thought of calling God Almighty a liar! In fact during one particular bad time when I was outright sinning, I stood on the ramp of a warehouse dock and cried out for God to save me, cause I KNEW I couldn’t do it myself! Yet, because His testimony is ALWAYS true, He reached down and spared me through His grace and instead of discarding me for my rebellion, He actually TAUGHT me through this situation the DEPTH of His unconditional love and I no longer just had an intellectual assessment of what God’s love was, I had a deeply personal and spiritual experience of God’s Agape (love). That experience changed my life forever and when I teach on God’s love it is no longer on an intellectual basis only, but from deep spiritual experience. My life became a witness then to the truth of God’s witness and testimony concerning His Son!

Now I read this in Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible[1] and I hope I give it justice because I’m not quoting the whole thing (only the italicized part), but paraphrasing it; if a person denies God’s witness about His Son and rejects the truth of Christ Jesus, then He not only believes God is a deceiver, but that the “religion” or spiritual lifestyle that evolved from Christ’s teachings and that of the disciples who followed must also most certainly be a lie and a falsehood and though it is based on “a pure, holy, heavenly, undefiled institution, and so worthy to be embraced by the reason of mankind, and yet is but a delusion and a lie.” Then to top that off, the Lord sent His Holy Spirit with power and anointing to further spread this new lifestyle, so those rejecting God’s truth are saying these are all deceitful lies authored by the God they supposedly don’t even believe in. To me, it doesn’t even stand up to “common” sense!

The Apostle Paul demonstrates this foolishness in mankind when he wrote, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, . . .” – Romans 1:20-22a.

A person who rejects God CHOOSES to have his heart and mind blinded by the god of this world, and thus becomes as confounded and foolish as the rest of the world system to which he becomes an integral part!

But the Beloved Apostle sums up the theme of the witness and testimony of God with verse 11. “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” This is the summation of the Gospel, the Good News and of the Christian message as a whole!

All that has been laid out as a foundation before has led up to this very message; “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” It is God, our Heavenly Father’s Gift to mankind and it is the Son’s voluntary Gift to us as well by His willingness to pay for our sins and debts by His Sacrifice. All the testimony, all the witnesses that we have before us, has been to lead us to this AWESOME and AMAZING truth; God desires us, His creation, to have eternal life. This has been His eternal plan all along.

I love the well-know verse by the Apostle Peter; “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9. This is an avenue into the Heart of God, Himself. His desire for mankind is that ALL should come to repentance. As we know from the rest of Scripture and what we have just discussed from the Apostle John, there are those who will deny and reject God’s truth, but that doesn’t change God’s desire, or His love for mankind and His creation!

This verse doesn’t just sum up the Gospel most appropriately but simply as well and yet there is so much depth to it. Our eternal life is found ONLY in Christ Jesus. Yet, it is a Gift also from God Almighty to those who choose and desire it. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:6. Jesus came to give us eternal life but you have to follow through with that train of thought. Why does He want us to have eternal life?

So many think that Salvation and Redemption is the main reason for being born-again, saved. But that is a narrow train of thought. There is a REASON why we are saved and redeemed. Jesus followed through after stating that He was the way, the truth and the life by stating the purpose for it. The ONLY way to the Father is THROUGH Christ Jesus! We are quick to tell people and to evangelize with the thought of being born-again, just as Jesus instructed the teacher Nicodemus. But we do not always and in fact very seldom teach those we are evangelizing WHY they need to be born-again. It’s NOT just to go to Heaven! Remember, Heaven is ONLY a dwelling place and I am not belittling it when I say that. It is the place of God’s Throne and it will be our abode forever, but that which I just stated is the reason why we NEED to be born-again; to be in the PRESENCE of our Heavenly Father Who GAVE us eternal life through His Son! We were SAVED to have that spiritual unity with our Heavenly Father and to be ONE with the Son!

We are born-again to have a spiritually renewed and reborn life with our Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus as empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples He was going ahead to prepare a place for all of His disciples. Why? So that we have an abode, a place to be with Him, and the Father. When we are in the presence of Christ Jesus, we WILL be in the presence of the Father for we know and go to the Father THROUGH Christ Jesus! I can’t seem to stress this enough. I am not an Evangelist per se, but I evangelize as the doors open and when I do, I ALWAYS give people a REASON why salvation is so important. Heaven is an awesome reason, but an even GREATER reason, is the Person of our Heavenly Father, God Almighty and the relationship we will have eternally with Him through Jesus Christ!

THIS is God’s testimony: He has given us eternal life and that LIFE is IN Christ Jesus, the Son! Have YOU availed yourself of this FREE gift? I pray and hope so, for your eternal well-being depends on your answer!

God loves you and He will ALWAYS love you and that is based on what He has already done for you and all of His creation. If you do nothing else, think upon that for in that is eternal HOPE!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 5 verse 12.

Church, Rise Up and Walk!

“And the LORD, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.” – 2 Chronicles 32:7-8.

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'” – Isaiah 41:10.

Christ Jesus IS the Head of the Church! The Same whom Isaiah is calling too in the next verses. Today we ARE His arms and legs, His Body! The Head is commanding, is directing, where is the ACTION? Is Christ’s Church, His Body asleep from inactivity? Awake, Awake and shake off the weariness. The time is short and there is a harvest awaiting!

“Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, And wounded the serpent? Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over? So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” – Isaiah 51:9-11.

If you want to know what you can do and how the Lord can use you, in whatever way, great or small, seek Him NOW while He can be found and I guarantee you, He WILL find you and answer you! Be His vessel today. Show His love while it IS still day! Church, it is time to awake from our sleep! To use an example of the Apostle Peter, I am saying to the Church today and Church, remember it:

“Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” – Acts 3:6. Church, children of God, co-heirs with Christ Jesus, it is time to get up and start doing, start walking in the Power and Authority of Jesus Christ!

Passover – Coronavirus

I want to share with you something that I HAD been conflicted over for a couple of days. Yes, I still learn, I still seek the Lord’s wisdom and I still grow in Him! Okay, that was my confession. But as I was praying for wisdom and guidance and especially since I am a teacher of the Word, I was asking the Lord about this situation of not being able to attend church services and such and the Holy Spirit opened my mind to something similar. Not exact mind you, but similar and I present it to you, as a child of God Almighty, our Heavenly Father.

Mind you, the world won’t see it this way, but those of you with the Holy Spirit abiding within will most likely see God’s hand in this situation and especially when it comes to the well-being and care of His children.

You can read the story of the Passover in Exodus chapter 11-12. What I want to point out to you is that during that final plague, the Lord told through Moses and Aaron that all the Israelites should go to their homes with their families and stay in their homes for God was sending an angel of death over all of Egypt. Almost everyone remembers the story.

I’m sure that some must have felt it an inconvenience and others were doubtful and maybe even a little fearful if at least not a bit anxious for not knowing EXACTLY what the Lord was going to do or how He was going to bring things about. You also know that even today, Passover is a main Jewish celebration observed according to the laws handed down by Moses.

We don’t often as Christians, followers of Christ Jesus even think of Passover because we recognize Jesus as our Passover Lamb given once and for all, for all of mankind. The Apostle Peter wrote, “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” – 1 Peter 1:18-19.

So here we are today, the whole world being turned upside down with the fear and panic brought on by ANOTHER flu virus, this time the Coronavirus. The news media and social media platforms have done all they can, despite professional doctors and scientists information, to spread the tale of just how apocalyptic this virus is and it is probably the end of mankind as we know it! Yes, it is a serious flu virus, but so was the swine flu a few years back and it was almost completely ignored.

Today though, there is a spiritual significance to this and especially in Western civilizations and Nations. You see, we have ABANDONED morality and spiritual wisdom for progressivism, diversity and alternate lifestyles. These are all things that once were considered sinful and aberrant behavior but now are being “preached” as just another diverse lifestyle. Anything about God Almighty, His commandments and even basic moral principles are rejected as being archaic and obsolete and if you still hold to those ideals you are ridiculed and scoffed at as not with the times or inline with “civilized progress!” Just like the Prophet Isaiah warned about, those things that were wrong are now hailed proudly as the right things in society and those things that were right and righteous are now considered wrong, harmful and even dangerous to society as a whole!

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!” – Isaiah 5:20-23.

This to me sounds absolutely prophetic for what we are experiencing today. Corruption and yes, even EVIL (and I don’t use the term evil, lightly) are blatant and no longer being hidden in the dark!

Since God’s Character and His very Nature does NOT change and His Word is eternal and unchanging, then what was once sin and abhorrent to God Almighty (and I might add the reason Christ Jesus came to earth) is still, to this very day, sin and abhorrent. God’s Character and Nature is Just, Holy and Pure. Yes, He is merciful and gracious by the very fact that He DID send His Son to pay the penalty for OUR sins, for He Himself is sinless! But in that unconditional Agape (love) He still does not condone or justify sinful and unrighteous behavior!

Yet today, mankind as a whole and especially those Nations who have been blessed by His grace and mercy and have prospered in so many ways, have outrightly rejected Him and His commandments to follow after loving one another and in fact have been blinded by the very enemy of their souls into believing that loving is based on emotional feelings for others rather than the voluntary, unconditional choice to ACT no matter how you feel! I truly believe that those who have rejected by their actions, God’s commandments have become reprobate in their minds and hearts and their minds have turned in on themselves and this is why we see so much confusion and contradiction in ALL areas of politics and celebrity and social arenas and not just here in the U.S. either!

So now we have the latest flu, Coronavirus. Instead of taking normal precautions against a new strain, the world as a whole, whose minds have been confounded and apparently turned in upon themselves have given in to untoward panic and fear and refuse to listen to common sense let alone spiritual wisdom.

But God in His mercy AND grace as given many of our Nations a reprieve by recently elected conservatives who still look to God Almighty for help and guidance. These men, whether knowingly or not are being used by our Heavenly Father to accomplish His goals and to protect His children during what is surely looking to be the start of judgement against a rebellious world who still claims “In God We Trust!” Though their actions deny it, their lips say otherwise and God Who has always been Just, Holy and Pure is finally saying, “You have my Word, you have my servants and yet you do not listen.” Now our Nations are being turned upside down by the flu!

Yet it is NOT the flu that appears to be the judgement on the world though serious in its own right it may be. It is the fear and panic that is causing more harm and damage and you just watch, the liberal and progressive politicians use this, all over the various Nations, to try and gain back what these conservatives who are being vessels of the Lord have tried to reestablish.

God has given His children safety and security under His sheltering wings. If we must stay at home and follow the “wise” government guidelines, do not forget that God Almighty, OUR Heavenly Father (not the government’s) is STILL in control and watching out for us! We can use this time to become reacquainted with Him AS a loving Father. We can rediscover what is most important in the lives He HAS blessed us with. We don’t have to panic, for the “angel of fear” will pass right over your homes and you know why? Because the doorposts of your heart have been sprinkled with the Blood of the Passover Lamb, Christ Jesus and His Holy Spirit is ABIDING in you as you abide in Him!! Now how AWESOME and reassuring is that? It gives me chills just sitting here writing about it!

Solomon in his wisdom wrote this and history has proven it time and time again; “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us.” – Ecclesiastes 1:9-10.

This virus hasn’t take our God by surprise and in fact since He directs the steps of His children, our paths are laid out before us and all we have to do is walk them in faith! History has proven that the Lord ALWAYS takes care of His own while the world and its system of corruption and greed end up literally doing damage to itself if it doesn’t outright destroy itself.

So, do not fret if the government says to stay indoors. They don’t even realize they are actually doing what God wants them to do, not for their unrighteousness but for the safety and protection of His children. The safety we are assured of, isn’t just from the virus or flu itself, but from the foolish and unrighteous acts of those who have and will continue to succumb to panic and fear.

As an example; I live in a small Colorado community. Not much goes on here except now that marijuana has been legalized a lot more homeless and those who desire that drug easily and thus we have a lot more burglaries and a lot more robberies. But, a couple nights ago, not even a block away from us, two vehicles got into an accident and guns became involved. My wife happened to be out with our dog, Bella, and seen part of the aftermath of the commotion, as I said, not even a block away. God DOES and WILL continue to protect His own!

Will it be inconvenient? It already is with all the binge buying and hoarding that panicking people are doing. Will it be annoying? Yeah, but we can still have that spiritual Joy deep down inside that is promised by our Heavenly Father because of our place within Christ Jesus and His abiding by His Spirit within each of us!

As for me and my house, we will continue to serve the Lord and I REFUSE to panic or be fearful because my trust in not in governments or in an one person other than my Lord! If my family starts too, I have the Word of God on my side and the power of His anointing to remind them in Whose care we are in. I am telling you, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, do NOT forget that same thing! Remember, we ARE only pilgrims here, our home is in a precious Heavenly Kingdom and that is our ultimate goal and destination.

I told my wife earlier that I feel like the Lord has surrounded us with a protective glass and we are spectators looking out upon a world that is just going crazy. We NEED to remember to pray for those outside of that protection for one day, and it might be sooner than we realize, the time for the world will be over and the ONLY way after that time for them to be saved will be martyrdom due to the wrath of God that will be poured out upon the rebellious world!

One final thought to remember and more so if you truly are a child of the King. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.”

“Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation . . .” – 2 Peter 3:9-15a.

The closer we get to the Father, intimately, the more we have the same desire as Him, that none should perish. When we can truly and sincerely say that, then we will know we are gaining in unconditional Agape, Love!

Peace – None Lasts

anecdotal stories
Isaiah 9:6, “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

The Elusive State

From November, 1921, to February, 1922, Britain, France, and the United States met in Washington, D.C. and agreed to limit naval armaments. European statesmen followed that conference with their own at Locarno, Italy in 1925, to guarantee Germany’s sovereignty against French adventuring (emphasis added). They sponsored German membership in the League of Nations and pledged further disarmament. The “spirit of Locarno” enthralled optimists who believed a new milestone had been reached on the road to peace. Still aglow with hope, statesmen met again in Paris in 1928 to sign a pact outlawing war. After ages of conflict, twentieth-century statesmen had deciphered the combination to peace on earth!

Really? Over a hundred wars have been fought since World War II ended. No state is more elusive in humanity than the state of peace!

When angelic hosts praised God in the presence of the shepherds, they promised that Bethlehem’s baby would reveal the glory of God and bring peace to those on earth who accepted His favor. Even as the angels spoke, the pax romana – Roman peace – existed. But God rejected that peace, human in origin and enforced with weapons, and offered lasting peace within to all who accept Christ. Pax romana is Locarno and Paris and Geneva and Washington – all the world’s capitals whose goal is military peace. “Peace among those on whom his favor rests” is God’s peace – the peace of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the righteousness. This peace military might can never give!

Prayer For Peace of Mind

Dearest Heavenly Father;

Sovereign Lord, King of Kings we praise You and exalt your most holiest of Names! You are ever worthy of our praise and we magnify You in all things. Even though You are our Father and we Your children, we worship You in all that we try to do. Heavenly Father, help us to be the shining example of You to the rest of the world and those we come into contact with.

Lord, we know beyond all shadow of doubt that You are ALWAYS in control no matter the situation and no matter how things might look to us. You are and always have been seated on Your Heavenly Throne able to see all the comings and goings of mankind. There is NOTHING that escapes Your eyes, for You even see into the heart of mankind and are able to see the hidden things there that man thinks to plan in his own limited “wisdom.”

We know dearest Lord, that you see the hearts and motives of Your righteous children and those who have chosen to pursue their own paths. There is nothing in the heart of man that is or can be hidden. Father, this is a great assurance and blessing to those of us who call You Father! There is a joy and a peace, that Your written Word says passes all understanding, when we rely and trust WHOLLY in You! As we continue to walk daily in trusting You in all things, continue to bathe and flood us with that joy and peace and help us to ever be pleasing to You as we do walk this journey in faith.

Father, You see the apprehension that some of Your children have in not knowing all the details of the things happening around us. We might not know all the ins and outs of the political world system or the natural world order filled with unknown and hidden dangers. Forgive each and everyone of us for our doubts and fear, for we know that Your Word tells us that You are NOT the author of fear, but rather You provide Your children, with power, love unconditional and a Godly and SOUND mind, one that is wise in Godly wisdom from on high. You give us the strength and the power to be righteous, not in our own selves, but in the Spirit that You have so graciously endowed each of Your children with.

Your Holy Spirit is our counselor and comforter, but even more so, He is our guide and leads us into ALL truth, even truth that we may not be aware of in the circumstances that panic the rest of the world! All we have to do is listen and hear, open our eyes and see. Help us by Your Holy Spirit TO see and TO hear Your Words, despite what the world and the enemy of our souls would like us to hear.

Your glorious and life-giving Word tells us that You, Your Holy Spirit within us is greater than ANY thing, ANY threat, ANY circumstance that the world or the enemy can throw at us! Your Word has proven itself to us and to past generations over and over again, without fail. We as Your children are without excuse when it comes to fully trusting in You and Your Word and the love that You have so graciously and mercifully shown to us time and time again. Today is no different. Today is nothing greater than we have faced in the past, but rather today is another day in which to “practice” walking in trust and faith in Your ability to keep us. You have promised and have delivered more than once, to never leave us NOR to ever forsake us. Even today, Your Words hold true in blessed promise!

Bless our Brothers and Sisters no matter the stage they are in their faith. Increase their faith, and be with them as they walk through the storms that life throws at them, with You ever by their side. Let them sense and be aware of Your loving presence through all things. Let their joy be full and complete in You!

Forgive us for our sins, hidden AND acknowledged, known and unknown with which we might have offended You AND our Brothers and Sisters. We open our hearts with love towards others in forgiveness of hurts and slights that they may or may not have knowingly committed against us. Help us with Your unconditional love to love each other unconditionally, NOT expecting anything in return that in faith, again, we might be pleasing to You.

Your Word tells us that You have ordered our paths; You KNOW what is in store for our futures though we do not. That causes us to trust in YOU and NOT in our own knowledge and since You have prepared our paths in advance, help us to see each step with our eyes of faith that as Your Word states, You can delight in us.

Dearest Heavenly Father, we may not know what your plan is for the rest of today, for tomorrow or the weeks to come. We do not know if this is the beginning of judgement on a nation and country that has turned its back on You, be we DO know that You love Your righteous children and will shelter them under Your “wings.” We pray and intercede for our nation, for our leaders, for those in the spotlight who have the ears of the people of this once blessed nation and we pray that their eyes would be opened spiritually by whatever means necessary so that they have the ability to choose for themselves which way they will go so that they are without excuse. We pray for revival, true, spiritual, Holy Spirit anointed revival that will change hearts and lives eternally.

Father, Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior and Redeemer has always directed our sight to You and has shown us Who the Father is. We know that He IS the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End of all things. We continue to look towards You for grace and mercy and in so dong cry out, “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!” Amen and AMEN in Jesus’ Exalted and most Precious Name!

A True Look At Life

A TRUE LOOK AT LIFE

Life can seem ungrateful and not always kind…
Life can pull at your heartstrings and play with your mind…
Life can be blissful and happy and free…
Life can put beauty in the things that you see
Life can place challenges right at your feet…
Life can make good of the hardships we meet…
Life can overwhelm you and make your head spin…
Life can reward those determined to win…
Life can be hurtful and not always fair…
Life can surround you with people who care…
Life clearly does offer its Up and its Downs…
Life’s days can bring you both smiles and frowns…
Life teaches us to take the good with the bad…
Life is a mixture of happy and sad…

SO…

Take the Life that you have and give it your best…
Think positive be happy let God do the rest…
Take the challenges that life has laid at your feet…
Take pride and be thankful for each one you meet…
To yourself give forgiveness if you stumble and fall…
Take each day that is dealt you and give it your all…
Take the love that you’re given and return it with care…
Have faith that when needed it will always be there…
Take time to find the beauty in the things that you see…
Take life’s simple pleasures let them set your heart free…
The idea here is simply to even the score
As you are met and faced with Life’s Tug of War.

I John 5:6-8

1 John 5:6-8, “This is He who came by water and blood–Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.” (NKJV)

1 John 5:6-8, “This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.” (NASB)*

Now comes some fun! As you will undoubtedly notice, I have presented two versions of Scripture; the New King James Version of which I use in most of my teaching and the New American Standard Bible which I use in most of my preaching! In all honesty, I love the reading of both and I will tell you up front, I am not a King James Only believer and though I won’t get into it in this study, if that is an affront to you, I’m truly sorry!

But suffice it to say that since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and some of the earliest manuscripts that have been found that date far, far earlier than those used to translate the Bible into the 1611 King James Version, I have no problems with using some of the newer texts in study. However, I will always come back to these two versions listed above when it comes to comparison and study. That’s MY personal preference.

However, since we will be delving into an area of some controversy that has been evolving over the years I will state this fact and many of you who HAVE followed my teaching know I am adamant about this: The Holy Spirit IS Truth. (As we shall see in some following Scripture). I firmly believe that He inspired the written Word, though it was written by many different hands, it has His Signature on each and every book recognized as Biblical Canon. I further believe that the Holy Spirit did NOT stop inspiring mankind, but even today, ACCORDING to the written Word is STILL leading, guiding and counseling His servants through His inspiration. Thus, through the generations, I believe that those translators who deemed to provide a more accurate reading AND translation for study AND instruction were also inspired by the Holy Spirit, who guided them in their translation efforts.

As proof, when it comes to the necessity of being born-again, saved, spiritually reborn, or whatever term you use to denote Salvation and Redemption, you will find the necessary Scriptures in each translation authorized by reputable translators. They express the Deity of Jesus as the Son of God and as the Anointed One, the Christ, and they express His relationship to the Father, God Almighty and to the Holy Spirit Whom He sent upon His Ascension to the Throne. As a guide that is meant to open up man’s relationship to the Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit, these modern translations do just that! The key is as the Apostle Paul wrote to his protégé Timothy; “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15, and “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Therefore as just a little bit of food for thought, when we as Christians stand before the Lord on that Judgement Day and He asks us about our service to Him, I DON’T think He’s going to be asking what version of the Bible we used any more than He will ask what denomination we belonged too!

So, let’s get on with these next verses. A lot of discussion has been given over the many years as to the EXACT meaning of what the Beloved Apostle was referring too when he mentioned the water and the blood. The discussion isn’t whether Jesus is the One, or even if He is the Son of God, but it’s about the witness or the testimony of “the water and the blood!” Personally, the more I have prayed about it, the more I have studied different Bible resources, I just don’t see why there even IS any type of controversy.

First of all, let’s set some ground-work. The Old Testament, the covenant between God and mankind, specifically His children was set up with a series of laws and rituals that were never meant to accomplish the act of Redemption, but rather, when taken in faith as a type and shadow of the coming Savior, it was the faith by which God’s chosen children were justified. You can read this throughout the Book of Hebrews. In the ritual sacrifices, water AND blood were a main component in the preparation of the offerings.

Here are a few of the instances that scholars have taken into consideration. Jesus came to earth, All God and All man. We have established that in the past already. When He was born, He was born of a woman and as with all child-birth, water AND blood is involved. When His ministry began, it began at the Jordan river where John, baptized Jesus in water and the Heaven’s opened up and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove. (Matthew 3:13, Mark 1:9, Luke 3:21).

Others point out the part of the story of the crucifixion that John, the Apostle himself witnessed and was the only one to remark in this way. “But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.” – John 19:34. There are those who reference the water as a type that symbolizes the Holy Spirit coming upon Jesus and the blood was of course that shed at Calvary.

Still others say John presents this as he does the whole theme of his Epistle, as an argument against the Gnostics of his day who believe that up until the time of His baptism and right at the time the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, Jesus was JUST a man. A perfect, moral man, but just a man until the Holy Spirit POSSESSED Him and He then became the Christ, the Anointed One. The Gnostics believed that He was Christ while performing His ministry on earth up until the time of His passion-plea in the Garden of Gethsemane when the Holy Spirit then departed Him so that He could then die on the cross. Of course, if He wasn’t All God at that time as well as All man, then the atonement was for nothing! Thus John is stating that it is not just water as a witness or testimony to His Christ-hood, but as the Apostle states, it is the water AND the blood!

Now my thinking on this, is to NOT limit what the Holy Spirit might be trying to tell us as He inspired John to remember and to write this. I see absolutely nothing wrong with ALL of these scenarios for the POINT that the Apostle is making under that inspiration of the Holy Spirit is that our appointed Sacrifice, the Sacrifice given for OUR sins followed the Old Testament covenant in presenting the water and the blood. Just like in the Temple, water was present and so was blood. Now in the New Testament Temple(s), we are washed in the water AND the blood! THAT is the real point. Remember, it was the Apostle Peter

who wrote, “There is also an antitype which now saves us–baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, . . .” – 1 Peter 3:21. The word the New King James Version uses is antitype which could be replaced by a “type” or even “corresponding too” as the New American Standard Bible states it. All it means is that we are baptized (by the water and the blood) as an act of a good conscience, as a confession of what we truly believe and not just the ritual, because Christ Jesus performed all of that on the Cross!

There is nothing about any of this, and especially those who choose to make it a controversy, that takes away from the Deity of Christ or the Sacrament of His Sacrifice for our atonement. As a matter of fact, it just lends to the testimony or witness of the Holy Spirit, Himself. John reminds us that the Holy Spirit IS the Spirit of Truth and against such there can be no denying.

Now pressing onward this is the part that always surprises me, the controversy, the debates that take place over verses 7 and 8. There are those that as I stated earlier are die-hard 1611 King James Version, old English, translated from other translations, people who believe there can be no other version of the Bible and if you use another, well, your salvation is at risk. All I can say with all the love I can muster is “study to show yourself approved and have faith when you do it.” If that is the limit to a person’s faith then I can’t complain because that is still a mighty big faith!

But here’s something I want to ask you or at least to have you think about. There are three basic types of people when it comes to analysis or thinking. Those who can’t see the forest for the individual trees (they see the individual beauty of each tree, but can’t quite see the forest as a whole), or those who can’t see the trees for the forest (they see the forest as a beautiful whole, but do not identify the individual trees that make it up) or there are those that can do both, they see the forest as a beautiful whole made up of individually beautiful trees.

The same thing applies to people and their Bibles. I am NOT criticizing one or the other but rather showing that of either of the two types of people, there are limitations when it comes to Biblical understanding. There are those who can quote you a Scripture and expound on it and explore every intricate detail and nuance, but don’t ask them about the Book or Epistle that it is in because it is made up of a lot of individual treasures. Then there are those who can look at a Book or Epistle of the Bible and go on and on about why it was written, the setting, the structure and yes even some of the key verses. Each has it’s limitations though. This is the reason many, many times for the controversies and debates that arise from various versions.

When you realize the purpose of the WHOLE Bible, the reason God gave it to mankind to begin with, then when you open it up, the Books as a whole and Letters written as a whole start to make sense and the true treasures found in the individual Scripture verses can also be plumbed.

When you take verses 7 and 8 together, whether you read or study it in the NKJV or the NASB it is still telling you one thing. There are THREE that testify to the truth of Jesus Christ and these three are in agreement!

Yeah, but Brother Roland, verse 7 is not acknowledging the Trinity in the modern versions! They don’t specifically say, the Father, the Word (the Son) and the Holy Spirit! See, they are BAD versions meant to deceive. Let me ask you something; are you going to stop believing or have doubts about the Triune God because in this ONE verse they left out specifically stating their titles? Keep in mind that everywhere else in the Bible their Deity is evident and acknowledged. In other words, when the translation JUST says, “For there are three that testify: . . .” that is going to destroy your whole belief in the Triune God?

Let me ask you another question; what is the Apostle talking about starting in verse 6? Wasn’t he making the point that it isn’t just the Holy Spirit that testifies of Jesus Christ, which by the way should be evidence enough, but that it IS the water and blood itself that witnesses or testifies to the Deity and atonement of Christ Jesus. What is a habit that the Apostle has in his writing that I have stressed over and over? Isn’t it that he makes a point and then goes back and reiterates that point to make sure we “get” it? So, John is talking about the water, and the blood, and the Holy Spirit bearing witness to the truth of Jesus Christ. In verse 7, the Trinity not withstanding and not being denied, John states simply, “For there are three that testify: . . .”

Oh, by the way, did you notice the colon? Remember what the colon does in English grammar? It connects that thought to the next thought coming after it. In other words, take away the verse numbers and here is what you get: “For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.” WOW!! John just reiterated his thought from verse 6!! That must have been a pretty important thought! (Do you think he might have been arguing with the Gnostics back in the day?).

John didn’t detract from the Trinity, for he wasn’t even talking about the Trinity to begin with. He’s writing to whom? Do you remember? The last address to those he was writing too was made in 1 John 4:4, “Little children.” In other words, those whom he already considered part of his family and the children of our Heavenly Father, God Almighty! So – maybe they already believe and trust in the Triune God and he didn’t HAVE to put it there. So, whether you want to acknowledge it in the NKJV or read on as presented in earlier writings such as what the NASB and others came from, the point and the train of thought remain the same!

As a child of God’s, we have the ASSURANCE not JUST from the Holy Spirit which should be evidence enough that Jesus Christ took upon Himself our sins and that as the atoning sacrifice, acceptable before God, His/our Father, our faith and belief and acceptance of Him abiding in us brings about our Salvation and Redemption and that witness is also of the water and blood that through that sacrifice is applied to us!

All I can say as write this is that we serve an AWESOME GOD! Praise His Exalted Name to the Highest Heavens! Amen and AMEN!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 5 verse 9.

Birth of The Bride

Many of you who have followed me on WordPress and have read my articles know that recently I have been doing a lot more warnings involving the Nation of the United States as well as other nations in general. The Lord just seems to be revealing to me (and not just me, either) that we are on the precipice of judgement as a Nation.

But I have also been praying and seeking the Lord for more insight into His Word AND His wisdom and last night in my prayer time, He really dropped a “nugget” of treasure into my heart. Now I am NOT saying this is new to all of you, but it IS new to me for I have never looked at the subject of the Bride of Christ in this way, so bear with me!

Genesis 2:18, “And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Genesis 2:21-24, “And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

If there is one thing I have learned over the many years of teaching and preaching, it is that WHATEVER the Lord does in the natural concerning mankind, it is a shadow, a type of what He is doing or has done in the Spiritual realm. For anyone to think that this temporary natural existence is all there is to life, they are truly blind, for this is only a shadow of things to come in the eternal. As the Apostle Paul so eloquently stated it, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; . . .” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV).

As Christians, true followers of the example of Christ Jesus, we have been taught and to a great degree understand about the Body of Christ. We are all members of that Body, Brothers and Sisters IN Christ adding to that Body with Christ as the Head.

1 Corinthians 12:
12, “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.”

18-20, “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.”

27, “Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.”

Now almost everyone is familiar with these verses and what they mean. Many times we interchange the term, Body of Christ with, the Bride of Christ. I’ve been guilty of it, but no more for there IS a specific difference. First, as the Body of Christ, we ARE the Body of Christ in this temporary life because we are together as members, the example of Christ Jesus upon this earth. The gifts given to each and every individual member makes the Body of individual members, a whole. Christ Jesus Himself manifested all these gifts when He walked and taught upon the shores and in the synagogues of Israel. No one person today, manifests all the gifts of Christ Jesus within themselves.

But as the Body of Christ as a whole, with Christ Jesus the Head, we are DOING what He commands. We are ACTING towards others by His command. This brings into perspective all the teaching in 1 John that I have been doing on “loving God by following His commandments, as well as loving one another.” Christ Jesus came to show us the Father by doing the works of the Father and passing that very example on to His disciples through the power and workings of the Holy Spirit. When we as individual members all do our part, no matter how small or insignificant YOU think it is, it is the Body of Christ accomplishing the mission that it was sent to do!

For example, did you realize that your big toe for as small as it is in comparison to the rest of your body, is important in allowing you to keep your balance when walking or standing? Many people do not realize how strong of a support that toe, though small it is, gives to the rest of the body! Thus with that perspective, maybe we shouldn’t take such a little thing for granted! So it is with the Body of Christ, every member, no matter how small we consider it, has a place AND a purpose in the Body of Christ here on earth! It is ALL towards the goal of winning others to the Kingdom of God AND growing the very Body of Christ while on earth.

I will share with you what makes the Bride of Christ different than that in a bit. First, have you considered how the Bride of Christ was created or “born?” We know how Eve, Adam’s wife and bride was created, from his side. It has been stated, rightly so, as the great Bible commentator Matthew Henry (1662-1714) wrote:

“Eve was not taken from Adam’s head that she should rule over him, nor from his feet, to be trampled under foot, but she was taken from his side that she might be his equal, from under his arm that she might be protected by him, near his heart, that he might cherish and love her.”

I might dare to add also that she wasn’t created to always walk behind him, nor to always walk in front of him, but to ever be by his side.

The Bride of Christ was also created from the side of Man; but in this case the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. Look at what the Apostle Paul again tells us in Corinthians:

“And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” – 1 Corinthians 15:45-50.

Adam was the first man created in God’s likeness, Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth and took upon Himself that same likeness, but to bring us BACK into a spiritual relationship with our Heavenly Father. God gave Adam a help-mate in Adam’s likeness created from his side to walk by his side.

Jesus is the Bridegroom and we are His Bride, but how? Read what the Apostle John tells us:

John 19:
28-30, “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”

33-34, “But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.”

Paul tells us in the verses above “that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.” Right now, just as when Jesus walked this earth, flesh and blood is doing the work of Jesus at His leading as the Head of His Body. However, Jesus blood was spilled for us at the cross, unlike other crucifixions, His was a voluntary desire to complete the mission that His Heavenly Father gave Him for mankind. In return the Father, through this act of submission is preparing a Bride for Christ Jesus.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” – Ephesians 1:7.

“For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” – Colossians 1:19-20.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” – Hebrews 9:13-14.

“And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.” – Hebrews 9:22-23.

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” – 1 Peter 1:18-19.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:7.

The Body is doing His, Christ Jesus’ work while we are still here abiding IN Him. So, consider this; we know that we have redemption through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and the shedding of His Blood has cleansed and redeemed us. That confession and the following obedience makes us part of the Body of Christ here on earth, but our final redemption is when He comes back for His Church. What is He coming back for? A Church, but a Bride without spot or wrinkle! The Blood that was poured from His side, not just cleanses us from our sins, but as God the Father created Eve from the side of Adam, God the Father is creating the Bride from the side of the “second Adam, ” Christ Jesus, instead of through a rib, through the shed Blood that cleanses us and makes us spotless and white! Now how AMAZING is that!!

Now that we have that thought in mind, we need to ask what is the Bride of Christ doing?

The Bride is AWAITING the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:1-13)! Right now, she is the Betrothed and thus she is waiting for the return of her Bridegroom. Not UNTIL the Bridegroom comes and takes her to His Home, is she truly the FULFILLED Bride. But what does that signify, you ask?

Now think of this; Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” – John 14:2-3.

And the Apostle Paul stated this; “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” – Romans 8:16-17.

We are heirs of the Father AND joint heirs or co-heirs with Christ Jesus! Think of this in the light of what Matthew Henry stated about God, the Father creating Eve. That is/was in the NATURAL! How much more AWESOME will that same truth be in the spiritually ETERNAL! We have not been newly reborn and created in Christ to be over Him, beneath Him, behind Him or in front of Him, but we are created to be AT HIS SIDE! Apply what Matthew Henry said about Eve now in relation to Christ and His Bride; “From under His arm that she might be protected by Him, near His heart, that He might cherish and love her.”

When we co-inherit the Kingdom of God, and Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, those that have been His working and acting Body here on earth, will no longer be His working or acting Body in the temporary, but His Co-Heir and Bride in the Kingdom of God, the Father, Eternally!

If you have been following this line of reasoning this far, I want to expound on something of relevance in this “modern” age we live in. I have always taught that Marriage is a Sacrament, an eternal covenant between God and the man and woman. The Marriage of a man and a woman in the natural is a type of and a shadow of the spiritual Marriage that will take place between Christ Jesus and His Bride. God’s wisdom has ALWAYS shown us in the natural, something that is of even greater importance in the Spiritual. This is why the Sacrament of Marriage is NOT a civil union, but a Sacred union between man, woman AND God the Father!

Man and woman become One and anyone who has taken their marriage vows seriously and have weathered the storms that life and the world throw at them, know this to be true! They become One not just in physicality but in mental and emotional AND most definitely in spiritual ways when the Lord is their number ONE!

hink of it, if you experience this right now in the natural, can you even begin to imagine what it will be like with Jesus Christ as our Bridegroom in the Spiritually Eternal? We WILL be ONE with Him because that is whom He is looking for and whom the Father is preparing for Him! This is why anything but what He created is a sin and abomination to Him. It goes so much deeper than just following some commandments and trying to live right as you can see by what I have laid out. Eternity is infinite; without an end. We can’t imagine that, but it is no wonder the Father is truly seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth! (John 4:24).

I truly hope and pray this blesses you as much as it does me. What an awesome and amazing future we have in store with our Savior, our Redeemer, our Bridegroom, our Lord of Lords and our King of all Kings! Amen and AMEN!

Man’s Wisdom

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” – Matthew 7:26-27

I John 5:1-5

1 John 5:1-5, “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

In the previous verses the Beloved Apostle concludes what could be construed as the “tests of life.” Our Christian walk should be based on love; love for God and love for one another and these should be the hallmark that identifies us as Christians as was first recorded in the early church. (Acts 11:26). In the following verses, he again returns to what can be considered the “tests of doctrine.” In other words, these verses begin a commentary on our FAITH.

Concerning our faith, the Apostle breaks down the benefits or the results of our faith within the first three verses. The first can easily be described as belief in the divine birth of Jesus as the Anointed One of God, the second would be loving God, our Heavenly Father, by keeping His commandments, and then third, loving His children, our Brothers and Sisters IN Christ.

When we are born-again, spiritually renewed in Christ, we surrender to Christ Jesus, thus identifying us as True Christians, and we become part of a family that God, our Heavenly Father has created. What makes us Brothers and Sisters?

First you can say our faith, but faith that is directed towards God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Anyone can have some faith, in something, but what is that faith directed towards? For instance, if you walk into a darkened room in your home and reach for the light switch, you have “faith” that the light will illuminate that room. Why? Because it was created to be that way and as long as all the parts are working, experience tells you, the room will be illuminated. But this kind of faith doesn’t make you spiritual, or heirs with Christ Jesus and co-heirs with your Brothers and Sisters.

Having the same faith as one another, believing within the depths of your spirit that Jesus is the Son of God sent to redeem mankind from our sins, confessing Him and turning away, repenting of our sinful behavior demonstrates our faith and belief in the Saving Grace of Christ Jesus. It is THAT faith, that makes us Brothers and Sisters when we each believe in that. The Apostle Paul stated it very clearly, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:1-5. Our faith, simply stated should be in “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

The second point that makes us Brothers and Sisters is our birth in God. “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” It is the Spirit of God that has birthed us and as such we love God as our Heavenly Father and since others are also “begotten of the Father,” or birthed by God, it is only right in assuming that we should love them as family. Those who love the Father SHOULD love the Father’s children as well! I emphasize the word should, as strongly as I can for indeed it IS a commandment of the Lord’s. So even though our faith identifies us, so does being “birthed” by the Holy Spirit because of that faith.

The third identifier of what makes others Brothers and Sisters is found in this statement; “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.” Okay, let’s break it down. If I keep God’s commandments then of course I KNOW that I love God, for keeping His commandments is proof, demonstrable proof that I love God. I’m being obedient to Him. How does this identify us as Brothers and Sisters though? Because if we love God AND His commandments, then of course we will love the children of God, our Brothers and Sisters, because that IS one of His GREAT commandments! Thus, keeping His commandments is not only proof of our love for God, but also proof that we love those who have also been “begotten” of God and thus by familiar relationship we ARE Brothers and Sisters.

One other point I’d like to make concerning our love for our Brothers and Sisters and how to tell its genuineness. The world loves ITS own, or at least what it knows to be love to them who are spiritually blinded, but it is a love based on natural or secular reasons. They love because they are kind, or rich, or educated, or of the same religious denomination. God’s children and their love is not constrained to those base, natural ideas, for we love one another because we BELONG to the same Father and thus too – one another!

Now that long drawn out explanation may make it seem complicated but in actuality it isn’t. We believe in Christ Jesus the Son of God. We love the Son and the Father Who sent Him. We obey God’s commandments of which a main one is to love one another, thus we and anyone else who falls under these “guidelines” is a Brother or a Sister!

Now John falls back as he often does to reiterate a common, already established thought; “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.” Yet here, it is as if he is emphasizing the previous verse. “We know we love one another, our Brothers and Sisters when we love God and keep His commandments.” When we actively do this, direct our love to God, the Father, by keeping His commandments, THEN we KNOW we love one another. But notice the intent behind verse three; “This IS love, this is the nature and character of what love IS, by the very act of doing His, the Father’s will.” In verse two we see love demonstrated by our actions; in verse three the Apostle is reiterating and reminding us WHAT love is, the very essence of love.

OUR love for God is expressed in willing obedience to follow His commandments. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” – John 14:15.

Then John tells us, “And His commandments are not burdensome.” Keeping God’s commandments and especially to love Him and to love one another should not nor ever be hard. He isn’t saying that at times following God’s commandments might not cause us some difficulty, but if you truly and sincerely love someone, you WILL do all to please them. When you realize that John IS talking to those born-again you realize he is talking to Brothers and Sisters who follow the Lord’s commandments because it is already something they choose AND desire to do.

I heard this example once used for another situation and yet it is perfect here; when you tell a mother or a father to take care of their child, you are only telling her to do something she already has a heart and a desire to do. In essence, you are just reminding her/him of the desire that is already a part of you. Sometimes taking care of a child has its difficult moments, anyone who has ever had a child knows this to be true, but despite the difficulties, because you truly and sincerely love them, you do what is necessary to care for them. So it is with following God’s commandments. The Lord’s commandments first of all are what is best for us as His children but even beyond that with our newly regenerated spirit, it is what we wholeheartedly desire to do, thus as John says, “they are not burdensome.”

We also have this promise from Jesus if we ever DO find our burden becoming a bit heavy; “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30.

I explained this in one of the previous lessons; His yoke is not heavy and especially when we surrender to it and do not fight against it. Thus, He is able to guide us where He wishes us to go and we do what is a common saying in the work world, “we work smarter and not harder.” When we do not struggle against the Lord’s yoke, the work is thus easy and the satisfaction derived of doing something at His leading is very, very refreshing to our souls!

Then John shares with us the source of ultimate victory; “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.” We all know that one of the saints most devious enemies is the world system that is operated behind the scenes by the “god of this world.” It is FULL of temptation meant to pull us away from not only God, our Father, but from everything that is eternal, and it’s goal is to occupy our minds AND our time with those things that are pleasing to the senses, sensual and temporary!

All you have to do is look around your community or watch the news or even “reality” shows on the television and you can see that people of the world are completely taken up with the things that consume time needlessly and the things that make them “feel” good. How many remember the slogan “If it feels good, do it!” It has become the rallying cry from the post-hippie generation that now for the most part defines most advertising. I remember when it started being shouted about! This IS the world’s slogan and motto! How cunning and deceptive has the enemy of our soul infiltrated everything that we are surrounded by.

But – the Apostle assures us that the man (or woman) born of God, renewed and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, born-again (John 3:7), is the only ones who can overcome the world and the influences OF the world! And what is the mechanism by which this victory can be accomplished? Our FAITH! Again, I have to remind you, it is our faith directed in the surrender to Christ Jesus and the obedience to the Father’s commandments. Our faith is a living, ever-growing gift from the Lord and just like an athlete who trains for a particular sport, ever stretching and using the muscles necessary to accomplish that sport, so it is with faith. Faith is like a “spiritual muscle” and the more we use it, the stronger it grows and there is one more extremely awesome benefit to “stretching” our faith, I say it all the time, we are able to PLEASE God, our Heavenly Father. As much as demonstrating our love through our obedience, walking in faith is a demonstration of trust in Him that is pleasing! (Hebrews 11:6).

I want to expound on this for just a moment. We walk in faith, it PLEASES the Father. What does spiritual pleasure produce? “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . ., joy, . . .” – Galatians 5:22. This Joy is a Fruit of the Spirit of God. We please Him, He is joyful. What is another benefit of this spiritual joy from the Father? “For the joy of the LORD is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10b.

Do you think I’m stretching this a bit? Again, who has the victory over the world? Those, born of the Father. What is the mechanism or tool of that victory? Faith, faith that pleases the Father which produces the Spiritual Fruit of Joy, which joy in us from the Father gives us strength! Now try and tell me the Bible is NOT inspired by the Holy Spirit! When you learn the Character and Nature of our Heavenly Father, you get to KNOW Him!

Now it may seem like circular reasoning, but the Beloved Apostle brings it all back in verse five. We know those born of God overcome the world by their faith in the very God that brought us back to spiritual life. So WHO are those who overcome the world? Those reborn spiritually because they believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and thus their faith in Him allows victory over the world.

John is bringing us back to something he has already established in our hearts; “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4. By this time in our study of John’s letter, there should be no doubt about the strength and assurance a child of God should have. The proofs of that have been laid out step-by-step by the Beloved Apostle over these five chapters.

You already have the victory if you are a child of God, born-again by the Holy Spirit walking in the faith of Christ Jesus. Are you sensing that victory in your life yet? Something to meditate on!

Next post we will begin with 1 John chapter 5 verse 6.
