The Lord’s Vineyard

prophetic words header wp

Pastor’s Note: God does NOT change and neither does the spirit of His Word. It is living and still relevant for each and every one of us today. With that thought in mind, remember the Prophetic words given by God’s Prophets and Teachers. The words STILL ring true! Do not be fooled into believing God’s Words and warnings were or are only for the children of Israel in ancient history.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-21, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” KNJV (Bold emphasis, added).

The Story of the Lord’s Vineyard

Now I will sing for the One I love a song about His vineyard: My Beloved had a vineyard on a rich and fertile hill. He plowed the land, cleared its stones, and planted it with the best vines. In the middle He built a watchtower and carved a winepress in the nearby rocks. Then He waited for a harvest of sweet grapes, but the grapes that grew were bitter.

Now, you people of the U.S. and other nations, you judge between Me and My vineyard. What more could I have done for My vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did My vineyard give Me bitter grapes?

Now let Me tell you what I will do to My own vineyard: I will tear down its hedges and let it be destroyed. I will break down its walls and let the animals trample it. I will make it a wild place where the vines are not pruned and the ground is not hoed, a place overgrown with briers and thorns. I will command the clouds to drop no rain on it.

pw lord's vineyard

This nation especially as well as others are the vineyard of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The people of this and other nations are supposed to be His pleasant garden. He expected a crop of justice, but instead he found oppression. He expected to find righteousness, but instead he heard cries of violence.

What sorrow for you who buy up house after house and field after field, until everyone is evicted, and you live alone in the land. But I have heard the LORD of Heaven’s Armies swear a solemn oath: “Many houses will stand deserted; even beautiful mansions will be empty. Ten acres of vineyard will not produce even six gallons of wine. Ten baskets of seed will yield only one basket of grain.”

What sorrow for those who get up early in the morning looking for a drink of alcohol and spend long evenings drinking wine to make themselves flaming drunk. They furnish wine and lovely music at their grand parties— lyre and harp, tambourine and flute— but they never think about the LORD or notice what He is doing or the work that He has done.

What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart! They even mock God and say, “Hurry up and do something! We want to see what You can do. Let God Almighty, the Holy One carry out His plan, for we want to know what it is.”

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever. What sorrow for those who are heroes at drinking wine and boast about all the alcohol they can hold. They take bribes to let the wicked go free, and they punish the innocent.

Therefore, just as fire licks up stubble and dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will rot and their flowers wither. For they have rejected the law and commands of the LORD; they have despised the word of God Almighty, their Creator. That is why the LORD’s anger burns against this people, and why He will raise His fist to crush them. The mountains will tremble, and the corpses of this people will litter the streets like garbage. But even then the LORD’s anger will not satisfied. His fist will still be poised to strike!

He will send forth a signal to distant nations far away and whistle for those at the ends of the earth. They will come racing toward the disobedient nations. They will not get tired or stumble. They will not stop for rest or sleep. Not a belt will be loosened, not a boot will be left empty. Their weapons will be lethal and primed ready for battle. Sparks will fly from their machines, and the wheels of their tanks and vehicles will spin like a whirlwind. They will roar like lions, like the strongest of lions. Growling, they will pounce on their victims and carry them off, and no one will be there to rescue them. They will roar over their victims on that day of destruction like the roaring of the sea. If someone looks across the land, only darkness and distress will be seen; even the light will be darkened by clouds.

pw making war

All because they rejected the love the Lord God Almighty had for them and the work that He had done to establish them. They will feel what their rejection has accomplished. Like the farmer sowing seed, every action has and will have a reaction. You WILL reap what you sow!

Seeds of Discouragement

thought of day header

For Sunday April 03, 2022:

SEEDS OF DISCOURAGEMENT

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NKJV)
“But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

If Satan had a barn for storing his weed seeds, the biggest bins would be filled with discouragement seeds, for he’s constantly sowing them in the hearts of faithful Christians. Many pastors are utterly worn out. Missionaries, seeing little tangible progress, are disheartened and ready to give up their work. Lay workers sometimes ask themselves, Am I doing any good, or is this a waste of time?

We don’t always see immediate and impressive results from our labor, but God promises that our work shall be rewarded. Paul told us to be “always abounding in the work of the Lord,” knowing our labor in Him is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

We have barns, too, filled with gospel seed. The Bible promises, “He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:6).

So don’t give up or grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we’ll reap a harvest if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9).

Lord, take my lips, and speak through them; take my mind,
and think through it; take my heart, and set it on fire!

26 Ways to Walk in Spirit and Truth

Pastor’s Note: Here’s another list of sayings in relation to walking and living in the Lord. I love these types of articles. Somebody put some time and thought into them. I will add that the same as the Random Truths I posted the other day, the Author is unknown, and they were from email and internet circulations in the 90’s.

In No Particular Order:

  1. Give God what’s right — not what’s left.
  2. Man’s way leads to a hopeless end — God’s way leads to an endless hope.
  3. A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.
  4. He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.
  5. In the sentence of life, the devil may be a comma–but never let him be the period.
  6. Don’t put a question mark where God puts a period.
  7. Are you wrinkled with burden? Come to Jesus for a face-lift.
  8. When praying, don’t give God instructions – just report for duty.
  9. Don’t wait for six strong men to bring you before our Lord. Hint: pallbearers
  10. We don’t change God’s message — His message changes us.
  11. The Body of Christ is prayer-conditioned.
  12. When God ordains, He sustains.
  13. ALERT: Exposure to the Son will prevent burning.
  14. Plan ahead — It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.
  15. Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory position.
  16. Suffering from truth decay? Brush up on your Bible.
  17. Exercise daily — walk with the Lord.
  18. Never give the devil a ride — he will always want to drive.
  19. Nothing else ruins the truth like stretching it.
  20. Compassion is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.
  21. He who angers you controls you.
  22. Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.
  23. Give Satan an inch & he’ll be a ruler.
  24. Be ye fishers of men — you catch them & He’ll clean them.
  25. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
  26. Read the Bible — It will scare the hell out of you.

Daily Prayer & Praise for 4-01-2022

Prayer for Friday 4-01-2022

Blessed Lord, Who was tempted in all things even as we are, have mercy upon our frailty. Out of weakness give us strength. Grant to us Your fear, that we may fear You alone. Support us in time of temptation. Embolden us in the time of danger. Help us to do Your work with good courage, and to continue as Your faithful soldiers and servants until You call us Home and tell us our work is finished. In Jesus’ Precious Name, we ask.

Amen.

I Shall Rise Again – C.H. Spurgeon

thought of day header

For Friday April 01, 2022:

I SHALL RISE AGAIN

1 Corinthians 15:35-38 (NKJV)
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain. But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

The seasons are four evangelists, each of them having his testimony to utter to us. Does not summer preach to us of God’s bounty, of the richness of his goodness, of that lavish generosity with which he has been pleased to supply the earth, not simply with food for man, but with delights for both ear and eye in the beauteous landscape, the melodious birds, and the flowers of various hue? Have you never heard the still small voice of autumn, who bears the wheatsheaf, and whispers to us in the rustling of the withered leaf? He bids us prepare to die. “All we” saith he, “do fade as a leaf,” and “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” Then comes winter, crowned with snow, and he thunders out a most mighty sermon, which, if we would but listen to it, might well impress us with the terrors of God’s vengeance, and let us see how soon he can strip the earth of all its pleasantries, and enrobe it in storm, when he shall come himself to judge the earth with righteousness, and the people with equity. But it seems to me that spring reads us a most excellent discourse upon the grand doctrine of revelation. This very month of April, which, if it be not the very entrance of spring, yet certainly introduces us to the fulness of it; this very month, bearing by its name the title of the opening month, speaks to us of the resurrection. As we have walked through our gardens, fields, and woods, we have seen the flower-buds ready to burst upon the trees, and the fruit-blossoms hastening to unfold themselves; we have seen the buried flowers rising from the sod, and they have spoken to us with sweet, sweet voice, the words, “Thou too shalt rise again, thou too shalt be buried in the earth like seeds that are lost in winter, but thou shalt rise again, and thou shalt live and blossom in eternal springs.”

Daily Prayer & Praise for 3-31-2022

Prayer for Thursday 3-31-2022

O Lord God, in Whom we live, and move, and have our being, open our eyes that we may behold Your Fatherly Presence ever about us. Draw our hearts to You with the power of Your Love. Teach us to be careful of nothing; and when we have done what You have given us to do, help us, O God, our Savior, to leave any issues to Your wisdom. Take from us all doubt and distrust. Lift our thoughts up to You in heaven; and make us to know that all things are possible to us through Your Son, our Redeemer and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

God Is Infinite! – A.W. Tozer

thought of day header

For Thursday March 31, 2022:

GOD IS INFINITE!

Psalm 145:3 (NKJV)
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.

God is infinite! That’s the hardest thought I will ask you to grasp. You cannot understand what infinite means, but don’t let it bother you—I don’t understand it and I’m trying to explain it! “Infinite” means so much that nobody can grasp it, but reason nevertheless kneels and acknowledges that God is infinite. We mean by infinite that God knows no limits, no bounds and no end. What God is, He is without boundaries. All that God is, He is without bounds or limits.

We’ve got to eliminate all careless speech here. You and I talk about unlimited wealth, but there’s no such thing; you can count it. We talk about boundless energy—which I don’t feel I have at the moment—but there’s no such thing; you can measure a man’s energy. We say an artist takes infinite pains with his picture. But he doesn’t take infinite pains; he just does the best he can and then throws up his hands and says, “It isn’t right yet, but I’ll have to let it go.” That’s what we call infinite pains.

But that is a misuse of the words “boundless,” “unlimited” and “infinite.” These words describe God—they don’t describe anything but God.

Twenty Random Truths

Pastor’s Note: I was going through some old circulations I have gathered over the years and found a couple of interesting lists that I thought my readers would enjoy! Hope these bless you as much as the memory of them blessed me. By the way, the Author is unknown and they were from email and internet circulations in the 90’s.

In No Particular Order:

  1. Faith is the ability to not panic.
  2. If you are worried, you didn’t pray. If you prayed, don’t worry.
  3. As a child of God, prayer is like calling home every day.
  4. Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.
  5. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
  6. Do the math. Count your blessings.
  7. God wants spiritual fruit not religious nuts.
  8. Dear God: I have a problem. It’s me.
  9. Silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted.
  10. Laugh every day; it’s like inner jogging.
  11. The most important things in your home are the people.
  12. Growing old is inevitable; growing up is optional.
  13. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
  14. A grudge is the heaviest thing to carry.
  15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.
  16. We do not remember days but moments. Life moves too fast, so enjoy every precious moment.
  17. Nothing is real to you until you experience it; otherwise it’s just hearsay.
  18. It is all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just be sure to flush when you are done.
  19. Surviving and living your life successfully requires courage. The goals and dreams you’re seeking require courage and risk-taking. Learn from the turtle; it only makes progress when it sticks out its neck.
  20. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Israel At The Red Sea – C.H. Spurgeon

thought of day header

For Wednesday March 30, 2022:

ISRAEL AT THE RED SEA

Psalm 106:9 (NKJV)
He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up; So He led them through the depths, As through the wilderness.

How sweet is providence to a child of God, when he can reflect upon it! He can look out into this world, and say, “However great my troubles, they are not so great as my Father’s power; however difficult may be my circumstances, yet all things around me are working together for good. He who holds up the starry heavens can also support my soul without a single apparent prop; he who guides the stars in their well-ordered courses, even when they seem to move in mazy dances, surely he can overrule my trials in such a way that out of confusion he will bring order; and from seeming evil produce lasting good. He who bridles the storm, and puts the bit in the mouth of the tempest, surely he can restrain my trial, and keep my sorrows in subjection. I need not fear while the lightnings are in his hands, and the thunders sleep within his lips; while the oceans gurgle from his fist, and the clouds are in the hollow of his hands; while the rivers are turned by his foot, and while he digs the channels of the sea. Surely he whose might wings an angel, can furnish a worm with strength; he who guides a cherub will not be overcome by the trials of a worm like myself. He who makes the greatest star roll in dignity, and keeps its predestined orbit, can make a little atom like myself move in my proper course, and conduct me as he pleases.” Christian! There is no sweeter pillow than providence; and when providence seems adverse, believe it still, lay it under your head, for depend upon it there is comfort in its bosom. There is hope for you, child of God!

A True Fireman

anecdotal stories

Holding on to Jesus’ Hand

In Phoenix, Arizona, a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukemia. Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of determination. Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up and fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible.

The leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son’s dreams to come true. She took her son’s hand and asked, “Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up? Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?”

Mommy, “I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.”

Mom smiled back and said, “Let’s see if we can make your wish come true.” Later that day she went to her local fire department in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix.

She explained her son’s final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her six-year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.

Fireman Bob said, “Look, we can do better than that. If you’ll have your son ready at seven o’clock Wednesday morning, we’ll make him an honorary fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And if you’ll give us his sizes, we’ll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat, not a toy one, with the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots. They’re all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we can get them fast.”

Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his fire uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck. Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station. He was in heaven.

There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls. He rode in the different fire engines, the paramedic’s van, and even the fire chief’s car.

as true fireman

He was also videotaped for the local news program. Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible. One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.

Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition.

The chief replied, “We can do better than that. We’ll be there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor? When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system that there is not a fire? It’s just the fire department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And will you open the window to his room?”

About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy’s third floor open window. Sixteen firefighters climbed up the ladder into Billy’s room. With his mother’s permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they loved him.

With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, “Chief, am I really a fireman now?”

“Billy, you are, and the Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand,” the chief said.

With those words, Billy smiled and said, “I know, He’s been holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing.” He closed his eyes one last time.

Pastor’s Note: This is not given to make you cry but rather to give you HOPE!

Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” – Scriptures New King James Version (NKJV)

as light affliction

There is no cost but a lot of rewards, to continue to uplift one
another. Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead tell
your storm how big your God IS.

Daily Prayer & Praise for 3-29-2022

Prayer for Tuesday 3-29-2022

Oh Lord God, Who by Your Almighty power can subdue all things to Yourself, have mercy upon us, we beseech You, and pardon the imperfection of our service. We acknowledge You alone as our only King; and we ask humbly, Heavenly Father to subdue every power within us which is not obedient to Your Law. Hallow and purify our souls and bodies with Your Holy Spirit, that we may offer to You the reasonable sacrifice of our lives. Oh Lord, hear us; Oh Lord, pardon us; Oh Lord, strengthen us; for His sake Who was born and died and rose again for us, in the Precious Name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Speechless Humility – A.W. Tozer

thought of day header

For Tuesday March 29, 2022:

SPEECHLESS HUMILITY

Daniel 10:15, 17 (NKJV)
When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. . . . “As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.”

When we meet God we also have a sense of weakness. I don’t think you will ever be strong until you know how utterly weak you are. And you will never know how utterly weak you are until you have stood in the presence of that great plenitude of strength, that great fullness of infinite power that we call God. When for an awful, happy, terrible, wonderful moment the eyes of our hearts have gazed upon the transcendent God, high and lifted up with His train filling the temple, then we will know how weak we are . . .

I’ve been preaching since I was nineteen years old and now I’m sixty-three. And yet, after all these years of preaching, I come into the pulpit shaking inside—not because I fear the people, but because I fear God. It’s the fear and trembling of knowing that I stand to speak of God and if I don’t speak rightly about God, what a terrible error it will be. If I speak evilly of God, what a frightful crime! It is only when I speak well of God that I dare sleep at night without asking forgiveness.

Daily Prayer & Praise for 3-28-2022

Prayer for Monday 3-28-2022

We humbly thank You, Almighty God, for the many blessings which You have given to our country: and add this, Oh Lord, to Your other mercies, that we may be enabled to use them better in Your service. Oh, take from among us all contempt of Your Word and commandments. Break down all the barriers of selfishness and ignorance which keep men from coming to You. Convince the impenitent of the misery of sin and comfort the broken-hearted with the assurance of Your unfailing love. Teach us all to be Evangelists not in word only but in everything which we do. This we ask for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

The Great Revival – C.H. Spurgeon – 3/28/2022

thought of day header

For Monday March 28, 2022:

THE GREAT REVIVAL

Isaiah 52:10 (NKJV)
The LORD has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations; And all the ends of the earth shall see The salvation of our God.

In the old revivals in America a hundred years ago, commonly called “the great awakening,” there were many strange things, such as continual shrieks and screams, and knockings, and twitchings, under the services. We cannot call that the work of the Spirit. Even the great Whitefield’s revival at Cambuslang, one of the greatest and most remarkable revivals ever known, was attended by some things that we cannot but regard as superstitious wonders. People were so excited, that they did not know what they did. Now, if in any revival you see any of these strange contortions of the body, always distinguish between things that differ. The Holy Spirit’s work is with the mind, not with the body in that way. It is not the will of God that such things should disgrace the proceedings. I believe that such things are the result of Satanic malice. The devil sees that there is a great deal of good doing; “Now,” says he, “I’ll spoil it all. I’ll put my hoof in there, and do a world of mischief. There are souls being converted; I will let them get so excited that they will do ludicrous things, and then it will all be brought into contempt.” Now, if you see any of these strange things arising, look out. There is that old Apollyon busy, trying to mar the work. Put such vagaries down as soon as you can, for where the Spirit works, he never works against his own precept, and his precept is, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” It is neither decent nor orderly for people to dance under the sermon, nor howl, nor scream, while the gospel is being preached to them, and therefore it is not the Spirit’s work at all, but mere human excitement.

Moral Attributes of God – 1

*Pastor’s Note: These lessons MAY be Scripture “heavy,” and though I am forewarning you I cannot apologize because it is the Word of God that brings things into the light. Remember that the Word says in the mouth of two or three witnesses, let everything be established. This is a spiritual principle that applies to the Word as well. (Matthew 18:16, 2 Corinthians 13:1). Also because of the need to explain, the lessons will have to be divided up into parts.

Part One

In the last lesson, which we left off in November of 2021, we discussed God’s Immutability or His state of being forever Unchanging. God is absolutely unchangeable. The lessons leading up to the last lesson dealt with Character, Nature and Attributes that are what makes God, God, as well as absolute in His Being. No other being or creation shares those inherent characteristics that make Him TRULY God.

In this lesson we will begin to discuss what is called and described as His moral attributes, or characteristics and nature that He has also endowed, to an extent, within His creation, mankind. These are attributes that are within our ability to emulate or imitate, though most assuredly not without the help of His Spirit living within us.

The Apostle Paul makes this clear in his letter to the Ephesians. “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” – Ephesians 5:1-2.

So in other words, these characteristics ARE within our ability to manifest and demonstrate. However, understand this very direct point; these characteristics and attributes make up Who God is as God. They are a part of Him and cannot be separated from Who He is. They are inherent in Him as part of His Being, they are not inherent within us. The ability to walk in those attributes are in us, with God’s help. The capacity is there, but sin has destroyed whatever aspect of them were inherent, and that is one of the many reasons why Christ Jesus HAD to come to Save us and Redeem us. It isn’t by a long stretch, to just get to Heaven. The very act of cleansing us from our sin and sinfulness is so that we can relate AND fellowship with the Father in Spirit and in Truth, according to those aspects of which He has commanded! (John 4:24).

With that as a foundation and firmly in mind, let us begin with what appears to be from all study and Scripture the one aspect of His nature that He would have His children and people remember Him for more than any other and in fact which all the other attributes seem to derive from.

pd holy is the lord

HOLINESS: One of God’s greatest moral attributes and the one that, according to Scripture, causes Him to stand out and above any imagination of other “gods” is His Holiness! I say this because if you have ever studied the Old Testament and reference the visions of God that the early Prophets and Patriarchs had, you will see that Holiness is the one trait that sticks in their minds the most. For example, the Prophet Isaiah speaks of Jehovah, some thirty times alone as the Holy One!

It would seem if you were to take the whole Old Testament and look as it as a whole instead of individual writings, the message in its simplest form would be that God Almighty is Holy. It is His holiness and our recognition of it which seems to bring Him the most glory.

Now I want you to understand that what the written Word describes as holy is God’s nature AND character. Just like the previous characteristics that we studied, His moral nature is a part of Him and as we stated earlier cannot be separated from Him. God IS Holy. He doesn’t make Himself so; His actions don’t necessarily dictate His Holiness, He just IS. This can be a daunting thought to try and comprehend with any of His attributes and nature, but if we try thinking and meditating on how these characteristics make Him God, it does get easier with time.

Now what the Bible describes as holy, especially in relation to describing God and His character, is His greatness, His superiority, His supremacy, predominance, preeminence and His incomparability. He is in His nature and character, above ALL things. There is nothing that can or does compare to Him! Now most of those words I used are similar and mean predominately the same thing, but the one that best describes His greatness is His incomparability. There is NOTHING, absolutely nothing that can be compared to Him!

When you begin to truly grasp that thought, it makes you want to jump up and shout and praise Him to the highest Heaven! Yet, even that seems a bit lackluster compared to how GREAT He is in His Holiness!

pd incomprehensible God

Now I want you to understand that God’s holiness even goes beyond that explanation, for when referring to Scripture, the word holy also denotes His absolute purity, His infinite ethical and moral excellence. This aspect is what God has given His creation the ability to emulate or imitate when He says in Leviticus 11:44, “For I am the LORD your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy.” Again we are reminded of this in Peter’s writings, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.'” – 1 Peter 1:15-16.

Now this holiness as it applies to God means that there is absolutely nothing within Him that can or does defile Him. God is completely separated from and is parted from the very presence of evil. This is why the Apostle John could emphatically state, “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that is unholy within Him.

You can see why sin is so terrible in our relationship to God as our Father. This is also why, when Jesus was hanging on the Cross and in that one moment took upon Himself ALL the sins of the world, past, present and future, that God HAD to turn away, turn His back in that moment on His Son and this is why Jesus cried out in agony, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” – Matthew 27:46.

To say that God hates sin is to be putting it mildly. God is absolutely uncompromising when it comes to sin. “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.” – Isaiah 59:1-2.

Think about this, the distance between God and the sinner, due to sin, is infinite! It is immeasurable. God and the sinner are at total opposite ends of the moral spectrum and without intervention, the two can never meet. This explains the need for the atonement where the infinite distance between a Holy God and a sinful man can be bridged and the gap between God and man can be removed.

pd bridging the gap

We all know the Scriptures penned by the Apostle John;  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” – John 3:16-17.

When you meditate and think upon this Scripture in the light of God’s Holiness, you see that He truly loves righteousness in the lives of His children and His creation, to the extent that He sent His only uniquely begotten Son to bridge the gap between us. Thus, the Cross doesn’t JUST signify God’s unfailing love towards His creation, but it also stands for His Holiness! Christ didn’t just die so that we might go to heaven as I’ve often stated, but He died that we might have a relationship with the Father based on holiness by removing the stain and defilement of sin.

When we accept AND believe in the sacrifice of Christ Jesus we are then “grafted” in to the Vine which is Christ and thus we are renewed inwardly by the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is the One who regenerates us and the One who works for our sanctification. The Holy Spirit works in us and through us to bring us into conformity with the image of Christ, that we might fulfill the mandate for holiness that God has commanded us be. It is through the ministry of the Holy Spirit that we are being made holy, and we look forward to that time when we will be completely sanctified and purified of all sin. As the Bible states it, “That He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” – Ephesians 5:27.

pd pure holy bride

Through the Redemption of Jesus Christ and the sanctification of the Holy Spirit, we CAN be “holy as God is Holy,” and thus have an unblemished relationship with our Heavenly Father as He desires to have with us, His creation.

Part Two will start with the Moral Attribute of Love.

Because They Speak Against The Lord

prophetic words header wp

Pastor’s Note: God does NOT change and neither does the spirit of His Word. It is living and still relevant for each and every one of us today. With that thought in mind, remember the Prophetic words given by God’s Prophets and Teachers. The words STILL ring true!

For the nation has stumbled, and is falling, because their speech and their doings are against the LORD, to defy and rebel against the glory of God Almighty. The looks on their faces are witnesses against them, and they declare their sin as evil as the sins of Sodom; they do not even hide them. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves by their very open and blatant actions.

“Say to the righteous and the upright that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. But woe to the wicked! It shall be disastrous with them, for the reward of their own hands shall be given and returned to them. As for this people, this nation who once called upon My name, children shall be their oppressors, and women will rule over them. Oh people! Those who lead you cause you to err and destroy the way of your paths.”

However, the LORD stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people. The LORD will enter into judgment upon the elders and leaders of this nation and those called to shepherd: “For you have eaten up the vineyard, the fruits of other’s labors and the plunder of the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing My children and tormenting and oppressing the very existence of the poor?” Says the Lord GOD of hosts.

Moreover, the LORD says: “Because the daughters of the nation are arrogant, and walk with haughtiness and flirting eyes, walking pridefully wherever they go, walking as if without a care, therefore the Lord will strike them with sores upon the crown of their heads and the LORD will take away their hair, their symbol of pride.”

In that day the Lord will take away their finery: their jewels of all types, the fine linen scarves; the perfumes, and the rings, all the robes and capes; the purses, and the mirrors; the hats, and the cloaks.

And so it shall be: Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench; instead of a sash, belt or buckle, a rope to be led by; instead of well-set hair, baldness; instead of a rich robe, the clothes of mourners; and slavery instead of beauty. Your men, your husbands and relatives shall fall victim to warfare.

Instead of social standing and prestige, you shall be destitute and your cities you once gloated over will fall into decay and ruin as well as into the hands of enemies.

All because you dare speak out against God and blatantly and openly do evil in the sight of all.

Be Friendly

thought of day header

For Sunday March 27, 2022:

BE FRIENDLY

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Comedian Milton Berle once quipped, “You know you’re getting older when it takes more time to recover than it did to tire out.”

As we age, our energy doesn’t seem to go as far. But we do grow in wisdom, love, and maturity. Our goal should be to expand our circle of influence, to reach out to more people, and to share Christ with our generation and the next.

In other words, our address books shouldn’t shrink with age. Sometimes it’s easy to bury our old friends without making new ones, but how wonderful to let the joy of Jesus shine through us, whatever our age. How wonderful to make new friends as long as we live.

One man smelled good whenever and wherever he was. His very body seemed to exude a pleasant fragrance. His secret was working in a perfume factory, where he breathed the aromas every day. He became a walking perfumery.

That should happen to Christians. We’re different ages and we all have diverse personalities, but at any age we should be so permeated by the joy of the Lord that we can’t help but share it with all we meet.

[The apostle Paul’s] friends came in all ages and backgrounds,
and he seems to have taken great care to cultivate them.
