The Prophets Spoke God’s Words

Let me clarify that title a little bit more, “The TRUE prophets spoke/speak God’s Words, not their own!”

“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” – 2 Peter 1:19-21.

“As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began.” – Luke 1:70.

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets.” – Hebrews 1:1.

For a while now I have been reading the various Books of the Prophets in the Old Testament while reading other Books as well. It has been a while since I spent time in the Old Testament Prophets and I’m sure that due to the situations we are experiencing today, the Holy Spirit led me to them for clarity in the world situations and circumstances. I actually started a while before all this flu virus controversy started because of the political climate. The obvious fact to many is that, though we are in a serious flu epidemic, it is no more serious than some we have had in the recent past. It’s just that in the recent past, the mainstream media along with the liberal and progressive left politicians ignored it then. Now that we have a President in office that threatens their agendas, they are using every situation and circumstance to try to sway the public their way, even if it means proclaiming fear and confusion as legitimate situations to feel fear.

The media and politicians have used models to sow discord and fear rather than stating actual legitimate facts UNTIL local, everyday Doctors, heroes really, stood up and stated, “Wait, something isn’t adding up.” Then and only then did National groups like the CDC come out and admit they were using computer models and their models were way off. That’s when they started resubmitting the actual data and statistics. Even now though, so many months in, we are hearing and seeing how these left-leaning Governors are stripping citizens of their Constitutional rights under the scam of a pandemic medical apocalypse!

Sounds like I’m being harsh or at the least conspiratorial, doesn’t it? Go ahead, you can be honest. The truth is, myself, like many other no-name preachers and teachers of the Word of God have done our due diligence and looked into the facts outside of the liberal media centers and politicians. Don’t get me wrong, we have some politicians believe it or not that are still trying to walk with integrity, but the mainstream media won’t repeat their comments or let you see their results for the most part. And sadly, if you are one of the citizens that get your information from the swill that comes across the television airways only, you are most uninformed to the truth!

Now why do I go on like this you might be asking? First and foremost because this is NO surprise to many who have been praying for our Nation for some time and trusting God alone to implement His plans for the welfare of His children. Not everyone in this Nation IS a child of God Almighty though many claim to be. They merely believe in A god, that there is a God, but they do not KNOW Him intimately. Mainstream denominations also, at least in this nation, are leaving the very foundations of faith in droves and clinging to man-made disciplines that are created to draw in more people and thus more wealth for the false teachers that lead these churches!

Yet, to anyone who has listened for the Word of God, this is not surprising. I say that again, emphatically because there ARE those who have been watching and listening. Yes, we are accused of being radical and way out there in left-field as it were. We can’t be taken seriously, and yet, things we have been saying for a while are unfolding right before our eyes! Why? Is it because we are so smart or so in tune? Not even a little bit!! God uses the willing, no matter their stage or status in life.

Some of the Prophets of old were simple shepherds and farmers and weren’t even considered Prophets (Speakers of God’s Words) until the Lord called them and gave them a mandate. Because they were righteous and obedient to God, as their Father, they obeyed. Most of the time, not without consequences in the natural, I might add.

But God ALWAYS let’s His children and His people in on at least some of His plans before initiating them. He loves and cares for us in that regard. But remember, only His children will hear, listen and heed His Words. The rest will be scoffers and mockers, because in reality, they do NOT believe in a LIVING and Righteous God, but rather some mystical being that started the “ball rolling” and then left it on its own.

“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7.

God’s Prophets, those who truly speak His Word(s) are like the watchmen of old, standing upon the highest fortifications of the city, scanning the horizons for the approach of anyone, friend or foe. It is the watchmen’s responsibility to sound the alarm when they see a problem arising so as to warn the citizens of that kingdom. If they refuse to warn, and the enemy attacks successfully, the watchmen are held responsible for any harm coming to the citizens.

Now this is an insight into the way it was in the natural in days of old. How much more responsible do you think the Lord will demand of the spiritual watchmen of today? Do you think that God will be LESS concerned with His watchmen of today who are supposed to be watching out for those things that don’t just hurt the body, or natural man, but the soul of man?

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” – Matthew 10:24-28.

I truly hope you will read that Scripture from Matthew in a little bit different light, understanding the responsibility that is upon those who truly choose to be disciples of Christ Jesus and all that it truly means to be one. God’s modern day prophets and watchmen are responsible to the mankind they are watching out for, but they are even more accountable to God Almighty Who has ordained and called them to do a service for Him and His children!

The Prophets of old didn’t always like the task they were called out to do. Look at the example of Jonah for one obvious example. Yet, when God calls us to speak, we HAVE to speak. If you have been serving the Lord for any length of time, you realize the truth in this statement. Only the young in the Lord are foolhardy enough to balk and complain about what the Lord asks them to do, but like all of God’s called, they will learn as we have learned.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. DO NOT DESPISE PROPHECIES. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22. (Verse 20 emphasized for clarity).

The Greek word that the Apostle Paul uses for “prophecies” is, prŏphētěia, which literally means “prediction” from an older word that means, “an inspired speaker or foreteller.” In the modern sense though and especially in how it relates to the Gift of the Holy Spirit, it is “to declare the mind of God as revealed in His Word, the Bible.” This could encompass “prediction” because as I have stated time and time again, God’s Character and Nature does NOT change and neither does His Word change. If God stated something in the Bible, whether in the Old Testament or in the New and especially as it relates to His Character, it is NOT a far stretch to tell those hearing you that what God meant in older times, He means just as much today in our modern times.

We have to use the WHOLE counsel of God’s Word though and this is where study of the Word and not just reading comes in. Today we live in what is considered the dispensation of Grace, due to the fact that Jesus Christ took on our sins and the sins of the whole world. However, that also assumes that you understand God’s Grace only applies to those who have accepted that gift and NOT to those who have not. Those who have not are still under judgement of the Law because they have rejected the Grace, the unmerited favor, that God has offered through Christ Jesus.

Thus when speaking of discipline, judgement or even punishment from God, we have to take in consideration today, is the prophet or the one prophesying speaking to the unregenerate hearts or to those who have accepted God’s Grace.

When speaking to the situation or circumstance of a nation that has turned their backs, AS A NATION, to God, we must understand that, as a nation, God will deal with them no differently than He did in the past, BUT with this distinct difference; those who are counted righteous in that nation will be spared God’s wrath and judgement, but they might still partake in some of the “inconveniences” that arise from that wrath and judgement. We must ALWAYS remember that God WILL continue to care for and provide, however for His children, individually. So even being a part of an unrighteous nation, if you live for God righteously, through the Blood of Christ, you WILL be taken care of!

The very fact that God still uses preachers and teachers, and yes, prophets, to speak His Word even today should be of great reassurance and comfort to all. Remember, as a child of God’s it is still your individual responsibility to “test the spirits.” There ARE many false prophets just as there were in times of old.

What you might ask distinguishes a false prophet from one speaking God’s TRUE Word(s)? The teachings of the Books of the Prophets, both major and minor prophets shows us one underlying theme. A false prophet will always tell you, everything is fine, God is NOT going to do anything about sin in your life and especially sin condoned as a nation. God wants you to prosper and be HAPPY, for that is your inheritance. A false prophet NEVER tells you WHY salvation or redemption is necessary, because they do NOT want to bring up sin or sinful behavior. That makes people “unhappy” rather than happy.

Today, another aspect, and believe it or not, even in older times it was touched on, modern day prophets want something in return for telling you “God’s” word. They may not ask you directly for donations as in older times, but they will always be pleading for “help” with finances.

Have you ever thought that if God WAS in and behind a ministry, God ALWAYS provides a way and the “servant” never has to ask or even plead for help? A servant or minister of God has to have the same faith for his life as the one whom he is preaching faith too. If God called them, God will ALWAYS make a way for that ministry. It is only if they have gotten ahead of God and gotten too big, beyond God’s will, that they find themselves begging for help.

Think of this statement carefully, if God will speak to His servant, and especially in the age we live with the Holy Spirit abiding in God’s children, then that same Holy Spirit of God can AND will speak to you! Today, ministers and SERVANTS like to stand ABOVE the congregation when in fact, they should be on the same level if not below them! Remember, God called us to SERVE, not to dictate!

So, is a ministry relying upon themselves and what they can drum up, or are they pleading for help from those they are supposed to be helping?!

One other thing that usually identifies a TRUE prophet, or one that speaks the TRUE Word of God; whenever God gives a warning, an admonition or correction and what His plans are if a person or group (such as a nation) doesn’t repent, God ALWAYS tells those He is speaking too, His plans for them IF they repent and turn around. God, has been harsh at times as He seems in the Old Testament when it comes to being obedient, but He ALWAYS told the Prophets what to tell the people in the event that they do repent and come back to Him. God NEVER leaves a warning stand alone, without also giving a promise to those who will HEED His Words.

I have heard AND read too many would-be prophets who want to tell others what God is going to do concerning judgement and wrath and yet never once do they relay what God has promised to do if a person responds to God’s Word and turns back to God. Throughout the Old Testament you see God’s Prophets continually saying that despite God’s anger, He is most certainly a longsuffering and an unfailing God when it comes to loving His children!

I believe we are going to see more and more things unfold in front of us spiritually. The closer it gets to the time of our Lord and Savior’s return, the more we will see spiritual forces, wicked and righteous forces at work in the lives of those around us. We should not be surprised but stay ever vigilant, watchful and above all, prayerful. The Word tells us that broad is the path to destruction and many are they which go that route, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be praying for each and every one of them.

If God’s will AND desire is that “none should perish,” then I would venture to say that true, Godly love dictates that we be the same way and one way to demonstrate that is to PRAY for others and especially the lost. Let us heed those who speak God’s Words, but let us be like the noble Bereans and “test the spirits” as the Apostle John clearly tells us to do.

May you all prosper spiritually as your soul prospers and may all the riches in Christ Jesus, be blessings abundantly in you!
