For 1-16-2022:
The Christian faith does not change with the course of time; we are still to contend for the truth. The church today has no right to insult the memory of the martyrs by making friends with unbiblical teaching which they bravely opposed with their lives.
Jude 1:3, “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.”
For 1-15-2022:
When you hear the Word of God preached, do you get impatient for the sermon to finish and forget about it as soon as you can? That can be a very dangerous habit. We need to act upon it there and then—receive, remember, repent.
Revelation 3:3, “Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.”
For 1-14-2022:
Whatever we have become or achieved in the Christian life must always be attributed to God’s grace and directed to his glory. The apostle Paul was one who needed no reminder.
1 Corinthians 15:10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
*Pastor’s Note: I wanted something to offer the Lord that we can all get behind for our nation AND for one another.
James 5:16, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” (NASB)
Dearest Most Loving Father, Your Word says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. God, help us to be a nation that fears You and You alone, a nation that is not afraid to acknowledge that You are the true living God. Help us to stop looking at worldly solutions and to focus on You for our answers. It is only through worshipping You in spirit and in truth that we will be able to have knowledge and understanding about the issues of life that are affecting our nation.
Father, I repent on behalf of this nation. We have become people who are only interested in things that give us temporary pleasure. We no longer fear You, Lord. I ask You to forgive us. Purify this nation with the blood of Jesus Christ, our True Lord and Redeemer. Turn our hearts away from different idols that we have created as a nation and individually. Help us to walk in ways that honor and glorify Your Holy name. Give us leaders that will lead us towards You and Your Word and remove those who would lead us AWAY from You and Your ways.
Lord, you are the ONLY Deliverer, and we pray for our nation and our leaders to turn toward righteousness and away from evil. May we not be labeling what is good as evil, or what is evil as good. You have said that if we seek your face and turn from our evil ways as a nation, You will hear our prayers and answer us. You have taught us to pray for Your will to be done here on earth as it is always done in Heaven. O Lord, may we individually and as a nation set our focus on obeying Your Word and living pure lives and may we truly desire Your will to be accomplished in us as individuals and as a nation.
In Jesus’ name and by His authority, we pray this fervently and in earnest supplication.

For 1-08-2022:
The Lord Jesus Christ heard things that were temptations to him, but he always resisted them and never sinned. As long as we hate and resist them, temptations remain temptations only—they become sins only when we enjoy them and give in to them.
Matthew 16:24, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.’”
Perhaps you’ve heard the old story of a pastor who went to call on a member who had been absent from church for some time. The pastor was invited inside and the two of them sat in front of a blazing fire in the fireplace. Without saying a word, the pastor got up, picked up the tongs, pulled a brightly burning log out of the fire. He sat down and the two of them watched the log’s flame slowly die. Then the pastor got up, walked to the fireplace, replaced the log on the fire, and they watched it, now united with the other logs, rejuvenated, burst into flame. Still not saying a word, the pastor got up to leave.
At the door, the church member said, “Thanks for the sermon. I’ll be in church Sunday.”

For 1-07-2022:
No subject of contemplation will tend more to humble the mind, than thoughts of God. But while the subject humbles the mind it also expands it. He who often thinks of God, will have a larger mind than the man who simply plods around this narrow globe. “In the beginning God,” so who or what comes first in our thoughts and lives?
Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
For 1-06-2022:
Even if you cannot pinpoint an exact time or place, can you recall your conversion when the Lord Jesus Christ became real to you and you trusted him to be your Savior? If you can, are the memories of that great event still as precious as they should be? If you have no such memories, look to the Savior so that you too may be saved.
Isaiah 45:22, “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.”
For 1-05-2022:
Are your prayers stuck in defensive mode as you seek God’s protection? Does your prayer-life ever venture out on the attack? Remember the Savior’s powerful promise that the gates of hell would be unable to stand up against the advance of his church. May these words encourage us to continue in prayer all year round.
Matthew 16:18, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
For 1-04-2022:
Does the church today lack the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ because the church is ashamed of the fullness of the gospel, which is God’s power to save all who believe?
Romans 15:29, “But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.”
Romans 1:6, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
For 1-03-2022:
Change is part and parcel of everything in a fallen creation. The Lord Jesus Christ is not part of creation, not even the very first part, but is Lord over all creation and not subject to any change. In him God’s children can look forward to glorious liberty from creation’s present bondage to decay.
Romans 8:21-23, “. . . because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” (Also Genesis 3:16-19).
For 1-02-2022:
Do you open up every area of your life to the One who has promised never to forsake his people? Are there any aspects of your relationship with him which are not all that they should be?
Malachi 1:6, “A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’”
For 1-01-2022:
The New Year may not always be as “Happy” as we would wish, but the Christian is blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places and can look forward to a “Blessed New Year” throughout the problems that may come.
Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, . . .”
