Special Prayer For The Lost

*Pastor’s Note: With all going on in the world and especially this week in the U.S., I felt especially burdened to seek the Lord.

I just read this statement the other day and it’s good to remember: Prayer is NOT meant to inform God of what is going on around us for He is already aware and knows all things. Prayer, on the other hand, is meant to ask God to move on behalf of the needs we are asking about and to seek His perfect will so that our will lines up with His.

1 Thessalonians 5:15b – 18, “Always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (NKJV) [Bold emphasis mine].

Heavenly and Holy Father;

We come to You today, humbly and in awe of Your majesty and ultimate sovereignty. You are more than worthy of all the praise that we can give You and we don’t praise You as You deserve. Forgive us for that, but see our hearts as only You can do and RENEW our minds daily to love You, to thank You and to praise You without ceasing.

Lord, there is so much going on in the world and while we truly do know that You are in control and that Your plans are unfolding before us, there are a lot of people who are living in spiritual darkness and are lost. Your Word tells us that with man many things are just impossible but with You, ANYTHING is possible and we truly and sincerely pray for lost souls. Father, we beseech You for our loved ones that are not walking in Your light. Draw them to You by Your Holy Spirit. If we can be the servants You want to utilize, then Lord, let Your light AND Your love shine through us to them!

We ask for the lost in the world and especially those caught up in wars and civil conflicts. They need You as much, if not more, than others. They need to see that You ARE a God of hope. There are too many on the brink of giving up on this life and contemplating suicide. Every community Lord that we live in is being plagued by that but You ARE the God, the Creator, the Originator of all hope. Please Lord, for the sake of Your glory and the sake of Your name, draw these lost souls to You and anoint Your children to be the vessels necessary to serve You.

For our leaders, so many who have outright rejected You and Your precepts, we pray for wisdom, something that seems to be sorely lacking today. Again, we KNOW You ARE in charge, but we lift them up to You. If they don’t know You, save their souls, open their blinded eyes and deaf ears to hear what You are trying to say to lead them forward in Your perfect will. Help us to never forget to pray for them, whether we agree with them or not. They ARE Your creation and such, You desire that none should perish. Help us make that our heart cry as well.

For my brothers and sisters, Father, I so lift them up to You. We intercede on their behalf whatever the needs may be. If health, give them speedy recoveries and instill in them the joy that You have for them. Give them comfort and peace that the world just can’t. If they are mentally or emotionally hurting, remind them through You Holy Spirit that a SOUND mind comes from You and Your Word is always true! Take away any fears or doubts and let them walk with confidence and assurance that You are always with them and will NEVER leave them or forsake Your children, Your called.

Lord, again with give You all the praise You deserve and in anticipation of Your answers, Father, we give You thanks from the depths of our being. Let Your name, let Your character be glorified among all people through each of us. For Your sake and the sake of our Savior and Redeemer, for the glory of Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ, we sincerely ask all these things of You, today!

Amen and AMEN!

pp when you pray
