Pastor’s Note: God does NOT change and neither does the spirit of His Word. It is living and still relevant for each and every one of us today. With that thought in mind, remember the Prophetic words given by God’s Prophets and Teachers. The words STILL ring true! Do not be fooled into believing God’s Words and warnings were or are only for the children of Israel in ancient history.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-21, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” KNJV (Bold emphasis, added).
P.S. As I have stated, God does NOT change and His Word does not change. For that matter, human nature does NOT change without the Holy Spirit’s intervention. The Bible is NOT just an historical account, but also a spiritual account of the Father’s Character and Nature. When you read ANY of the Old Testament or for that matter New Testament prophecies, keep that prayerfully in mind!
God chose Israel through Abraham to be His chosen people. A people in which He would nurture, lead, instruct and one to call His own. He made an everlasting covenant, and agreement with them so that they would live in Him. As time went on, they wanted to be like other nations and in so doing, became rebellious, rejecting God and the covenant of their forefathers. God sent the Prophets that He Himself called to speak to them warning, but also promise and yet still they rejected the Lord as their God following after the customs of other nations. The prophecies stand and are fulfilled because God’s nature and His words do not change. However longsuffering and patient, He must follow through with His words if people do not repent.
Our country, the United States became about because of religious persecution in other countries and men and women of God wanted to worship and serve God not as other men dictated, but as God, leads and guides. They came to America to start a life here and implement their religious freedoms with God Almighty, Jehovah as their leader and God.
When this country started to grow in its infancy and government regulations and rules were established, the men chosen to lead for the most part were God-fearing men. The rules and regulations they implement became our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It was NOT the Bible or the covenant God made between He and the Israelites, but whereas God chose them, the people of our nation chose God. Their covenant was based on spiritual principles and they let all know that we as a nation followed after God Almighty.
Because of that God had blessed abundantly this infant nation. In so doing we acknowledged our trust in God on our currency, on our public buildings, by Bible teaching and prayer as part of school curriculum.
Sadly however, we became just like ancient Israel in the sense that as we became more prosperous and more powerful we started to reject God and the covenant we made with Him based on the Constitution. In the span of two centuries, we repeated the mistakes of Israel that took them many centuries.
Again, God’s Word does not change. His Nature and Character does not change. The reasons for His anger, His admonition to stick to holiness, integrity and honor, righteousness and mercy do not change. Sadly, neither does human nature, no matter how much God blesses them! Our governments begin to forsake the very laws that caused them to prosper. The churches established that cause our nation to prosper decided to adopt their own theologies, many of them with mixtures of foreign, pagan practice and even New Age practices thrown in.
However, just like in ancient Israel, God has His prophets who proclaim the Word of God and it is unchanging. The time has changed, but not the circumstances. There is still rampant wickedness and lawlessness and especially in the leadership. Churches would rather have their people’s ears tickled with social gospels, false teaching and yes, just like Israel, false prophets prophesying that all is well with them because they belong to God while actually rejecting Him while still using His name as a figure-head!
What makes modern man think that because we chose God, that His words of warning to His chosen people won’t apply to us? We have claimed Him as our own God and have been happy and satisfied in His blessings. What makes us think that we can reject Him like Israel did and be successful and prosperous AND honorable on our own? It spiritually can’t and it won’t happen.
The following is an adaptation ONLY of the prophecy the Lord gave Israel for doing then what we are actually doing today! It is NOT a new prophecy and I have only updated certain things to reflect this time and this nation. This can apply to ANY and ALL nations who abandon God Almighty.
Do NOT let the god of this world, the god who has spread leaven everywhere and anywhere he can, to blind your eyes and dull your hearing. Like ancient Israel, we have become a land of scoffers and mockers! Wickedness and corruption is no longer staying in the shadows but is coming out into the light and BOASTING!!
This nation is headed for judgment as surely as ancient Israel was and DID go through! However, just like in ancient Israel, God still had His chosen who remained righteous and was rescued from all the things that came to those who rejected God. Today, God has a TRUE CHURCH, His Body, that is intermingled among the false and His true chosen still walk in righteousness in Christ Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit!
I have said it before and I will continue to say it, God will judge the NATION as a whole and judgment will be terrible and when it comes, swift. BUT – His righteous followers will continue to be sheltered under His wings and will find refuge in Him. God does not, nor ever has moved forward without letting His people know what He is about to do so they can be prepared and pray. He is telling people today, judgment is coming upon the rebellious in spirit!
The following is the prophecy that Ezekiel gave, again, adapted for our time and nation and circumstance. It is based on parts of Ezekiel chapter 8 and 9. Read it in your Bible and see if what I say isn’t true. Read it prayerfully and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The time is definitely getting shorter!
Yet for many years You had patience with them, And testified against them by Your Spirit in Your prophets. Yet they would not listen; Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. – Nehemiah 9:30. (NKJV)
“Go in,” God said, “and see the wicked and detestable sins the people are committing” So I went in and saw the walls covered with engravings of all kinds of crawling animals and detestable creatures. I also saw the various idols worshiped by the religious peoples. Leaders, teachers, preachers and prophets of religion and various churches were standing there. Each of them held an incense burner, from which a cloud of incense rose above their heads.
Then the Lord asked me, “Have you seen what the religious leaders are doing with their idols in dark rooms? They are saying, ‘The Lord doesn’t see us; he has deserted us and left us to our own means!’” Then the Lord added, “Come, and I will show you even more detestable sins than these!”
He brought me to a place where some women were sitting, weeping for the gods that they look too with their crystals and amulets. “Have you seen this?” he asked. “But I will show you even more detestable sins than these!”
Then he brought me into another area of the Lord’s Temple. At the entrance to the sanctuary, between the entry room and the sanctuary, there were men with their backs to the sanctuary of the Lord. They were facing east, bowing low to the ground, worshiping and praising the sun!
“Have you seen this?” he asked. “Is it nothing to the people that they commit these detestable sins, leading their whole communities and nations into violence and protests, thumbing their noses at me Who could help them, only to provoke me to anger? Therefore, I will respond in fury. I will neither pity nor spare them. Though they cry for mercy, I will not listen.”
Then the Lord thundered, “Bring on the angels appointed to punish this rebellious people! Tell them to bring their weapons with them!” The angels soon appeared each carrying a deadly weapon in his hand. With them was a angel dressed in linen, who carried a writer’s case at his side. They all went into the sanctuary and stood in the center of the “Temple.”
Then the glory of the God rose up and moved to the entrance of the sanctuary, and the Lord called to the angel dressed in linen who was carrying the writer’s case. He said to him, “Walk through the sanctuary and all the congregation and put a mark on the foreheads of all who weep and sigh because of the detestable sins being committed within their churches.”
Then I heard the Lord say to the other angels, “Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all—old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin right here at the sanctuary” So they began by killing the leaders who led them astray.
God said, “The sins of the people who say they are mine and are not are very, very great. The entire land is full of murder; the city is filled with injustice. They are saying, ‘The Lord doesn’t see it! The Lord has abandoned us to our own means and desires!’ So I will not spare them or have any pity on them. I will fully repay them for all they have done.”
Then the man in linen clothing, who carried the writer’s case, reported back and said to the Lord, “I have done as you commanded.”
