With Faith It Is Possible To Please God!

Reading today in my daily devotions, I came across this passage of Scripture:
Because of miracles Jesus performed, “Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region. Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things.

And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?'” And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight. Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” – Luke 7:16-23.

JesusteachingsmJesus went on to teach the crowd there how important John the Baptist was in the Kingdom of God, and in the light of history, there is no doubt that he truly was a great prophet AND a great man of God. Yet, there is another lesson to be learned here for all of us; Jesus didn’t come right out and tell the disciples of John, “Yes, I AM the Messiah of which prophecy spoke of.”

Have you ever thought of that, in that context? Think about it in light of the WHOLE Word of God. God’s Word does not change for certain people and apply only to others. God’s Word is TRUTH for ALL mankind, every one of us, no matter our place or station in life.

Hebrews 11:6 states, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

I have stated this on taught on this extensively over the years, but here is an example that even one of the greatest men of God was being told to “have faith in God!” How? By the very sake of what was being witnessed by others and performed in the name of the Heavenly Father through Jesus. Even John had to have faith to please the Father. You don’t exercise the use of faith if ALL the answers are continually given to you with undeniable proof. That IS the essence of faith, to believe what is NOT evident yet KNOW beyond certainty of its TRUTH! THAT is what it takes to please our Heavenly Father! If you truly want proof, it is written all around us in creation. It is only a matter of looking beyond what we see in the natural and glimpsing what IS in the spiritual!

You might be asking, “Pastor, how in the world do you accomplish that?” Simply put, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” — 1Corinthians 2:14.

2_pleases2I would imagine, that as John sat in his cell and his disciples gave him the Messiah’s answer, that he sat back with contentment and started praising God for HIS glorious gift!! That would’ve been a great demonstration of faith in action!

What answer to YOU need to experience that kind of faith in YOUR life?

God bless all who take this to heart and give glory and praise to our Father above in Christ Jesus’ name!!
