The Meaning of The Rapture For Everyday Life – 2

prophetic words header wp

Pastor’s Note: The following excerpt is a continuation from the article I posted last week. Like the Apostle Paul told the Thessalonians, we SHOULD be comforting one another with the Scriptural prophecies that have been given us in God’s written word. Again I say, don’t be deceived by the sensational that you see and hear going around us for the sensational will soon be the routine of the day used to deceive many. Rather, trust in the eternal word!

As with any of these articles that are not mine, the credit is listed at the end of the excerpted article and all rights are reserved to the author and publisher.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-21, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” KNJV (Bold emphasis, added).

The Rapture Has a Caring Influence on Soul-Winning Hearts

No believer can study Bible prophecy without being gripped by the awesome power and wrath of God. Just a simple reading of Revelation 6–18 reminds us of what is in store for this earth after the Rapture. Scripture also describes the eternal horrors that await those who die without trusting Christ. The Bible brings us face-to-face with what is at stake for those who don’t know Christ as their Savior. Second Corinthians 5:20 reminds us of our calling during this present age: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (NASB). Those who have already responded to the message of God’s grace and forgiveness through Christ know the world’s future, and we are Christ’s ambassadors, representing Him and His heart to a perishing world. We should care deeply about those who are still lost, willingly give of our material resources to help spread the gospel message, and regularly ask the Lord for opportunities and boldness to share the Good News of Christ. A clear understanding of the Rapture should exert a strong influence on every believer to care about the lost before time runs out.[1]

Daily Prayer & Praise 6/17/2022

Prayer for Friday 6-17-2022

Lord our God, we come into Your presence and bow down before You, the Almighty, the Everlasting God, our Father. We come before You humbly and sincerely and repent, believing in You and in Your will to save us. Your will to save goes out over the whole world, over the whole godless world, that all may repent and be redeemed if they would only choose You. Grant us the thoughts of Your heart so that we may begin to understand Your perfect will. We dedicate ourselves to You wholly, the holy, just, righteous, and merciful God that You are. Grant that we may be Your true children, led and guided by You every day. Turn our hearts to You so that You can make us more and more as You want us to be, more in the image of Jesus. Turn our hearts to You until Your goal of atonement and redemption is reached through the quiet working of Your almighty power. In the holy and precious name of Jesus, the Christ we ask.

Amen.

William Penn and Indians’ Offer

William Penn, the founder of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, was well-liked by the Indians. Once they told him he could have as much of their land as he could encompass on foot in a single day.

Early the next morning he started out and walked until late that night. When he finally went to claim his land, the Indians were greatly surprised, for they really didn’t think he would take them seriously. But they kept their promise and gave him a large area which today is part of the city of Philadelphia. William Penn simply believed what they said. Should we do less with God?

“I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.” – Revelation 2:19

Luke 15:4 – Ole Hallesby

thought of day header

For Friday June 17, 2022:

LUKE 15:4

Luke 15:4 (NKJV)
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave
the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?”

We have spoken of those people who make use of the love of God as a means of wriggling away from religion, and who smile at the whole thing.

But there are others who do not smile.

They are never many in number. Jesus gives figurative expression to this in the parable when He speaks of the one and the ninety and nine.

Listen now, you lonely, fearful lost soul: Jesus loves you.

No, He does not love me, you say. He is angry with me. And rightfully so. I have never done anything but sin against Him.

Yes, you are right. If you were to receive according to what you have merited, you would have nothing to hope for. However, Jesus has taken upon Himself that which you should have suffered. “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Such is His love toward you.

That is why He was so grieved when you went away from Him. He has sought you day and night. Have you not heard Him call?

Yes, you have. And it makes you restless. It is then that sin becomes such a burden to you. It is then that you begin to long for God, for reconciliation and forgiveness.

But how shall I find the way to God, you ask.

That you cannot do. Nor has God asked you to do that. It is He who seeks you. And now He has found you. Now the only question is: Will you yield and not run away from Him any more? If so, He will lay you on His shoulder and carry you home.

That is what it means to be converted.

Reflecting With God 6/17/2022

reflecting with God header
Thinking, praying, reading, studying the Bible – when we do these things, we are reflecting on the Word of God. To reflect is to contemplate and/or consider, and God wants us to deeply reflect on His Word so that we can better understand Him.

All Scriptures Used are NKJV, New King James Version

For Friday June 17, 2022:

You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees. – Genesis 16:13.

When no eye seeth you except the eye of God, when darkness covers you, when you are shut up from the observation of mortals, even then be ye like Jesus Christ. Remember His ardent piety, His secret devotion—how, after laboriously preaching the whole day, He stole away in the midnight shades to cry for help from His God. Recollect how His entire life was constantly sustained by fresh inspirations of the Holy Spirit, derived by prayer. Take care of your secret life; let it be such that you will not be ashamed to read it at the last great day.

Daily Prayer & Praise 6/16/2022

Prayer for Thursday 6-16-2022

Lord God, we thank You that You have upheld us and brought us to the Savior, our Lord and Redeemer, Christ Jesus. Help us to remember this truth through the never ending counsel of Your Holy Spirit, and constantly remind us while still on earth that we will live in Heaven with all Your angels. We are helpless without You. Your Spirit alone can overcome our sinful nature so that we never forget that we will be in Heaven with our Savior now and in eternity. In Christ Jesus’ name we pray these things.

Amen.

A Lack of The Power of God

After a powerful storm of nature strikes an area, many homes experience a power failure.

“Where were you when the lights went out?” then becomes the topic of conversation. The storm’s ferocious hands, winds, and water are hurled at earth like a demon loosed from hell. It takes men years to connect the various parts of our land with electrical lines linked to sources of power. In one devastating night, all of their work can be swept up and scattered into a chaotic mess. For days, weeks, months, and even years after, many people have to make a change in lifestyle. Old habits are not easily broken: reading at night, cooking on an electric stove, getting cold drinks from the refrigerator, turning on the heat or air conditioning, just to name a few. Not having any power causes great hardships for many.

There is a great feeling of dependency on others at times like these. Among the people who are able to help are those who work for the power company. They can fix the problem to restore the power. And once the power is restored again, every one feels grateful and has a new appreciation for the power they once took for granted.

This is also true in the spiritual realm of life. There are a variety of storms that come our way that can cut us off from our Source of spiritual power. Sometimes circumstances are at fault, but usually the blame for not having power to live the Christian life lies with us. Without God’s power, we find ourselves severely disabled.

“Where were you when the lights went out?” You were probably standing there holding the plug.

What is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. – Ephesians 1:19-23

What Do You Make of This – Oswald Chambers

thought of day header

For Thursday June 16, 2022:

WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS

John 15:13, 15 (NKJV)
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. . . .
I have called you friends.”

Jesus does not ask me to die for Him, but to lay down my life for Him. Peter said—“I will lay down my life for Thy sake,” and he meant it; his sense of the heroic was magnificent. It would be a bad thing to be incapable of making such a declaration as Peter made; the sense of our duty is only realized by our sense of the heroic. Has the Lord ever asked you—“Wilt thou lay down thy life for My sake?” It is far easier to die than to lay down the life day in and day out with the sense of the high calling. We are not made for brilliant moments, but we have to walk in the light of them in ordinary ways. There was only one brilliant moment in the life of Jesus, and that was on the Mount of Transfiguration; then He emptied Himself the second time of His glory, and came down into the demon-possessed valley. For thirty-three years Jesus laid out His life to do the will of His Father, and, John says, “we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” It is contrary to human nature to do it.

If I am a friend of Jesus, I have deliberately and carefully to lay down my life for Him. It is difficult, and thank God it is difficult. Salvation is easy because it cost God so much, but the manifestation of it in my life is difficult. God saves a man and endues him with the Holy Spirit, and then says in effect—‘Now work it out, be loyal to Me, whilst the nature of things round about you would make you disloyal.’ “I have called you friends.” Stand loyal to your Friend, and remember that His honour is at stake in your bodily life.

For Thursday June 16, 2022:

And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces. – Genesis 15:17.

When the ancients wanted to take an oath they would slay an animal, divide it lengthwise, and lay the pieces opposite to each other. Then the parties would advance from opposite points, and midway between the pieces take the oath. God wished to take an oath. He ordered a heifer and some birds slain and divided, and the pieces lain opposite to each other; then between the pieces passed first a furnace, typical of suffering, and then a lamp, emblem of deliverance.

So it is in the history of individuals, cities, and nations. First the awful furnace, then the cheerful lamp. The furnace of conviction, the lamp of pardon. The furnace of trial, the lamp of consolation. The furnace of want, the lamp of prosperity. The furnace of death, the lamp of glory.

Daily Prayer & Praise 6/15/2022

Prayer for Wednesday 6-15-2022

Lord God, help us who are allowed to hear Your Word. Help us come with all our hearts to the Savior, who leads us into Your arms and allows us to know You personally. Hear our pleading and let Your countenance shine over the world. Send a new age soon, a new salvation to the earth, to the glory of Your name. Show us that what we have learned about You is the truth and that we may live in the truth and find the way through to Heaven, our new home, to the glory of Your name. Hear us, O Lord our God. Often it seems that You are far away. But we know that our voices still reach You and that those roused by Your Holy Spirit will become Your workers, Your vessels for the Lord Jesus to use. Send Your Spirit soon, O Lord God. Send the Comforter, who leads us into all light and all truth. We entrust ourselves and our daily lives to You and Your direction. We want to be faithful. Help us to be Your children, to remember at every step that we belong to You, Lord God. No matter how dark it is on earth, help us remember that You are with us, and will be Your children in eternity. In Jesus’ glorious name, we pray.

Amen.

Man Has No Power By Himself

Most of us are familiar with the children’s story about the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. The first little pig’s house was built with straw. After huffing and puffing, the big bad wolf blew it down. He then moved on to the second little pig’s house which was built out of wood. As before, the wolf huffed and puffed and blew this house down also.

By this time, the big bad wolf was feeling pretty confident. Filled with pride, he approached the next house—the one made of bricks. Once again, he huffed and he puffed but nothing happened. So he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed and … he failed to blow down this house. He had been deceived by his previous experiences.

In the same way, man often acts like the big, bad wolf. He deceives himself into thinking he can tear down the walls that keep him from approaching God. But Scripture declares that man has no power to approach God.

“But doesn’t my life count for something?” you might ask. “I go to church; I’m a good person; I do good things for people. Isn’t that the basis for approaching God?” No! Man-made approaches are totally inadequate. The only way to approach God is through Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. – Colossians 2:20-23

Ephesians 4:15 – A.B. Simpson

thought of day header

For Wednesday June 15, 2022:

EPHESIANS 4:15

Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV)
Grow up in all things into Him.

Harvest is a time of ripeness. Then the fruit and grain are fully developed, both in size and weight. Time has tempered the acid of the green fruit. It has been mellowed and softened by the rains and the heat of summer. The sun has tinted it into rich colors, and at last it is ready and ripe to fall into the hand. So Christian life ought to be. There are many things in life that need to be mellowed and ripened. Many Christians have orchards full of fruit, but they are all green and sharp to the taste. There is a great deal in them that is good, but it is incomplete, and very sharp and sour. Perhaps something goes wrong in your domestic life, and you get flurried and cross and lose your confidence in God, and then, of course, your Christian joy. These things produce regret and all kinds of misery. There are many things day after day you are sorry for. You know you are not ripe and mellow and you cannot become so by trying. You cannot bring the sweetness in. It must be wrought out from within.

Daily Prayer & Praise 6/14/2022

Prayer for Tuesday 6-14-2022

Oh Lord our God, in the grace of Jesus Christ we pray to You that Your will may be done for us and for all the world. Through Jesus Christ grant us faith that You love us unfailingly, faith that we may live in Your love and abide in Your Love, that we may hope in Your love every day and have peace on earth, where there is so much unrest and trouble. Keep us firm and constant, remaining in Your peace and in the inner quiet You alone are able to give us because Jesus Christ has overcome the world. He has truly overcome, and this fills us with joy. We praise and exalt You, Almighty God, that You have sent Jesus Christ and that He has overcome the world. We praise You that he has overcome all evil, sin, and death, and that we may rejoice at all times in Your presence. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, we offer these prayers.

Amen.

Beware The Advances of Wolves

How would your church respond if your young people were approached by an organized cult? One night at a church skating party, a group of teenagers were “befriended” by several men who asked about their spiritual lives. The teenagers were given an invitation to join them for a series of special studies. These strangers also invited themselves to the church of these teens. Like a sinister snake, this cult was moving in for the kill.

Fortunately, the parents of these teenagers knew enough of God’s Word to make them cautious and wise. After the next church service, the leaders of this cult were spoken to and in blunt terms told to leave their kids alone and to never return to their church again.

Were these adults being ugly and unloving? No. On the contrary, they were carrying out the Biblical charge: to protect the innocent sheep from the advances of wolves.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. – Galatians 1:6-9

Israel In Egypt – C.H. Spurgeon

thought of day header

For Tuesday June 14, 2022:

ISRAEL IN EGYPT

Revelation 15:3 (NKJV)
They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying:
“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty!
Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!

One part of the song of Moses consisted in praising the ease with which God destroyed his enemies. “Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them; they sank as lead in the mighty waters.” If we had gone to work to destroy the hosts of Pharaoh, what a multitude of engines of death should we have required. If the work had been committed to us, to cut off the hosts, what marvelous preparations, what thunder, what noise, what great activity there would have been. But mark the grandeur of the expression. God did not even lift himself from his throne to do it: he saw Pharaoh coming; he seemed to look upon him with a placid smile; he did just blow with his lips, and the sea covered them. You and I will marvel at the last how easy it has been to overthrow the enemies of the Lord. We have been tugging and toiling all our lifetime to be the means of overthrowing systems of error: it will astonish the church when her Master shall come to see how, as the ice dissolves before the fire, all error and sin shall be utterly destroyed in the coming of the most High. We must have our societies and our machinery, our preachers and our gatherings, and rightly too; but God will not require them at the last. The destruction of his enemies shall be as easy to him as the making of a world. In passive silence unmoved he sat; and he did but break the silence with “Let there be light” and light was. So shall he at the last, when his enemies are raging furiously, blow with his winds, and they shall be scattered.
