Agnosticism and Atheism
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good (Psalm 53:1).
For the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the LORD . . . (Isaiah 32:6).
He who proselytizes in the cause of unbelief is basically a man in need of belief.
~ Eric Hoffer
I can see how it might be possible to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how one could look into the heavens and say there is no God.
~ Abraham Lincoln
Every effort to prove there is no God is in itself an effort to reach for God.
~ Charles Edward Locke
Agnosticism solves not, but merely shelves the mysteries of life. When agnosticism has done its withering work in the mind of man, the mysteries remain as before: all that has been added to them is a settled despair.
~ Vincent McNabb
Agnosticism leads inevitably to moral indifference. It denies us all power to esteem or to understand moral values, because it severs our spiritual contact with God who alone is the source of all morality.
~ Thomas Merton
I do not see much difference between avowing that there is no God, and implying that nothing definite can for certain be known about him.
~ John Henry Newman
