Robert Hawker: Piercing Heaven – Puritan’s Prayers
Dearest Jesus, you are my hiding place. I ask for grace to see you. Surely, from everlasting, in you and in your righteousness, all your redeemed were hidden in peace and salvation.
And when we were called and quickened by grace, what could keep us alive, or preserve our spark from being snuffed out? Only by having our lives hidden with Christ in God.
Yes, blessed Jesus, you are the one who has carried me, as you have said, on eagles’ wings, and brought me to yourself. I know that you will never let any of your little ones perish, for “he who touches you, touches the apple of his eye.”
And while on your wings, whoever wants to destroy them must first destroy you.
So Lord, give me the grace to enjoy and use such amazing blessings. And since you have now added the tenderness and caring of the hen to the wisdom and strength of the eagle, you gather me under your wings.
You nourish me with your love and favor, so I may be yours always, and live here by faith, even as I hope to live with you in glory forever.
Amen.

Amen and Amen!
