Lord, hear our prayer:

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we thank you for the power that created the world in which we live, but we thank you more for the love and the grace with which you sustain it and renew its life day by day. We rejoice to be here in your presence. We thank you that we live in an age when we can worship in our congregations. We remember how Jesus rejoiced to worship in the synagogue. We remember too how he cleared the temple so that all people could worship you. Once you were just a name, someone in the Bible. Now you are becoming more real each day. May worshipping you with the people of God be as important to us as it was to Jesus. We bring our thanks in the name of Christ the Lord.

Amen.
