*Pastor’s Note: A.B. Simpson was a very well respected Canadian preacher, theologian and author who lived from December 15, 1843 to October 29, 1919. My prayer is that you will be blessed and inspired by his poetry as much as I am.

TWO SOULS

Two souls went forth from the cross that day,
Both dying by Jesus’ side,
On either side one and the Lord between,
But parted—so far and wide.

For one went out to an endless night,
Heaven open before his eyes,
And one went in with the Son of God
Through the gates of Paradise.

Two souls will go from this place to-day,
Both children of guilt and sin;
But one has said no to the Son of God,
The other has let Him in.

And the starless gloom of the endless night,
Poor lost one, awaiteth thee;
While bright as the light of love and heaven,
Redeemed one, thy path shall be.

About Roland Ledoux

Ordained minister (thus a servant). Called to encourage and inspire one another by teaching His Word, and through intercessory prayer for others, praying for those in need as well as the lost. I and my wife of 50+ years live in Delta, Colorado where the Lord has chosen to plant us in a beautiful church home.
