For Sunday May 1, 2022:
NOT ONLY READY BUT WILLING
Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)
“You are the light of the world.”
Two college students responded to God’s call in very different ways while being taught by professors who did not believe in God. One of the students diligently studied what the professor taught, always hesitant to mention her belief in God for fear of sacrificing her grade, while the other student knew God was calling him to write his final paper on how to become a Christian, despite putting his grade in jeopardy. At the end of the semester, the first student walked away with an A, while the young man received an F on his paper and barely passed the class. Some time later, the young man ran into his old professor, and during their conversation she confessed to giving him an F because she was angry that he had tried to share the gospel with her. She also thanked him for taking that chance, because his F paper led her to accept Christ as her Savior.
The A student still wonders with sadness about her professor.
It’s not always easy to accept the task of shining God’s light in this dark world, but we may be the light that God has sent for a soul in need of a Savior. We must not only be ready; we must also be willing.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
