IN John 8:12 our Lord says, “I am the light of the world.” He was “the true Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9). “I am come a light into the world,” He declared in John 12:46. In the New Jerusalem, “the Lamb is the light thereof” (Rev. 21:23).
In Matthew 5:14 Jesus says to His disciples, “Ye are the light of the world.” “He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life,” He tells us in John 8:12—and this light shines forth from our hearts, the Light of the Indwelling Christ, so that we shine as lights in the world (Phil. 2:15).
