This is from one of my long-time internet friends, Russ Hall. One of the first I ever made when first entering Online Ministry. He had started his own ministry on one of the Yahoo! Groups, Ready For Him, and I met several Christian friends there, some who even now twenty years later, I still keep in touch with. I come back from time to time to a blog he doesn’t write for now, but still has some great hidden treasures. This post, I couldn’t ignore for we all from time to time are looking for our “legacy etched in stone,” yet our true legacy is resting in the Heavenly Father and the Redeemer in whom we serve!!

I pray you enjoy this treasure nugget and be extremely blessed by it! You can see some of the other “nuggets” if you visit his site.

When Ptolemy decided to build the Pharos lighthouse in the second century, he chose Sostratus to design that mammoth structure, which later became one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Ptolemy insisted that the building should bear his inscription as a personal memorial; however, Sostratus didn’t think the king should get all the credit for his work. He therefore put the title of Ptolemy on the front of the lighthouse in a thick plaster, which would be eye-catching at first but later would be worn away by the elements. Secretly he had cut his own name in the granite underneath. For decades the sea dashed against the inscription and gradually eroded the plaster facade. Though it lasted the lifetime of that earthly monarch, it was finally obliterated, leaving the name “Sostratus” standing in bold relief! In like manner, worldly fame often disappears before the relentless waves of time…

    • It’s not boasting to use the gift the Holy Spirit has given. Your Facebook (Ministry) service is a delight to all and I look forward to ALL your posts there. They bring a smile to my heart and are a joy to see. In this age of so much negativity, it is awesome (at least to me) to see such joy spread and it appears to be so effortlessly! You have always seemed to have a talent to bring God’s people together. That I can’t forget and am so thankful I met you (even if it was online) oh those many years ago. You and a couple of others have maintained (maybe with a few gaps due to computer issues) a friendship that has spanned two decades. That shows the power of the Holy Spirit AND the power of true friendship. I look forward my brother to the day I can give you and even Sharon a big hug for just being who you are! I pray for you guys always and thank the Lord for you! God bless you richly even more!
